Location?
Anyone know what the location feature is for?

Location refers to the aGPS system (assissted Global Positioning System) in the phone and weather you want you location known to the carrier at all times, or only when making 911 calls.
I am not sure how built out this feature is in Verizon's network. Other carriers are further along with it. I believe the government has mandated that they all have to have it working for 911 calls by a certain date.
In the future alot of "location based" applications/services may make use of this data. For example AT&T has a directions service. When you call in to get directions to a place, their network already knows where you are at geographically ... and can give you multiple choice options.

Verizon has actually been pretty good about the gps stuff and should be offering get-it-now programs that can give you maps and directions and stuff using it...there's a Mapquest program now on get it now but I'm not sure if that uses it or just does point-to-point directions

thanks. good to know. that explains why some of the functions auto knew my zip. i guess it's privacy vs. convenience.
