Echo (echo, echo, echo...)

I'm thinking of returning my phone because of the echo that callers hear when I use speakerphone. Is this a network problem that VZW is likely to fix or should I return the phone? Or should I exchange it for same and hope for better luck? Also, I was not impressed with battery life. Abt. two days w/ only a few short calls and a little experimenting with features. And, only 1-2 bars reception in house, not much better outside, S. Fla area. ☚ī¸ I really want to like this phone, but... 😕 Appreciate suggestions.

I would say try and exchange on the phone and see how that goes. I have not had one echo yet so its only some phones. Its a new phone there are bound to be some problems so i would just try another one.

So far, I've had no complaints of echoes. This can be caused by having the volume too high. I think it may be a network problem though. I've heard echoes on all my Verizon phones at some point.

Battery needs to be fully charged and discharged several times before optimal performance. It indicates this in the manual also.

I would exchange the phone for the echo, but it's likely all the Verizon phones have this problem at some point.

Hope this helps. 😉

Yea i think a lot of people skip over the battery conditioning part which is one of the most important parts if you want your battery to last. You are right every phone probably has a echo once or twice in its life. But Verizon customers feel like they have to echo to Verizon because Verizon seems like they cant hear us now. Maybe Verizon has a echo problem on their end.

Skorpyo & Motoman, THX for the info.I'm going to exchange for another e815 and hope for better. Also, didn't know abt battery "conditioning". I still have 1 wk left on my purchase and to cancel contract w/o penalty. I know everyone on this forum doesn't like Cingular but if my 2nd e815 isn't better in clarity, reception, and battery life,(not to mention crippled bluetooth,) what good is it to have any of the other features? I may have to keep shopping. Again, all suggestions welcome. BTW, not too happy w/the Moto HS820 bluetooth, either. Should I get the 850? Thank you! 😁

Hmm, I'd only used my headset and non-speaker phone mode on the phone up until now. Though the echo is so bad my friend complained right away and I was unable to really hear him as though he had poor service, he kept cutting out from I guess his echo going back into the phone.

But once I turned off speakerphone he sounded totally fine, so it's just the speakerphone...guess I'll head back to Circuit City tomorrow and see if I can't get one that isn't weird...my only concern is getting my pictures off this phone and onto the new replacement phone :-\

No don't get the HS850 wait for the H500 from Motorola to come out the second half of this month it is the same design as the HS820 but it will be the latest and greatest bluetooth technology yet by Motorola.

Maybe you are just talking too close to the speakerphone?

no, like it's on the other end...my friend who I'm on the phone with hears an echo of what he says back to him, on my end it seems almost fine, I hear no echo, just whenever he talks his echo sorta messes up what he's currently saying so I only hear half of it or so broken up as though there's poor service.

Okay, so this is like my 3rd post to this thread here, but I went to Circuit City all ready to return my phone cuz of the echo in the speakerphone, but when I had the guy there call me to see it for himself it worked fine...so either it was the volume or powercycling my phone this morning when I was updating something fixed it. So in conclusion, it's not a problem with the hardware of your phone so try rebooting or something before you go and trade in phones :-)

I traded mine in for a new one yesterday. Echo is gone (so far.) Other problems improved also (call sound quality, reception.)

I got a new one and then had it back to VZ for servicing twice but the problem continued. I did not get the echo when the phone had a plug-in earpiece in it or with the phone by itself. Several days after putting the earphone plug into the phone, I disconnected it and surprisingly found the problem gone. So far, so good.

I had the same problem with the other end hearing the echo & my side hearing the breaking up so I exchanged it. When I took it back the rep at the store tested it & no echo, but exchanged it anyway. Same problem with the 2nd one. 15 day return was over four days ago. It only happens when the speaker phone is on. I'm thinking it's the network, because my mom just got the v265 & when she calls with the speakerphone I hear the echo.

I to had the echo problem. The echo seem worse on calls to land lines vs cell phone to cell phone. I had the speakerphone off. At the same time I also had a V276 and a V710. They did NOT echo to the same phone I called on the E815! I swapped for a second E815, same problem. I gave up on the E815 and kept the V710. As another person said, when E815 is echo, reception is clipping.
