For those of you that has the E815 already, what is your software version? Mine is 8720_01.14.00. I want to do a comparison and see if the version are the same on all the engineering demo and if the BT is fully functional on these model. I know for a fact that most of the feature are fully functional, just not sure if all are, and I know the production model willl probably be crippled, and I'm debating whether or not to keep mine after I get it activated (if ever), but if the engineering demo is not, then I'll probably keep it for sure. Also, is your engineering demo model pretty stable?

Hey tightwad,

Mine has the same software version as yours. Very stable I just wish they would enable Get it Now so I could try the V-cast when I go to florida the 9th. Why is your phone not active yet?

I'm on the NSR plan and VZW system will not allow a non-trimode phone to be activated on that plan. They used to but not anymore. My hubby is on AC I, but he uses his phone for business, and it's kind of hard to borrow his line so I can test my phone. I'm getting ready to do some traveling around the 2nd week of June until probably in the middle of July, I will change my plan over to AC II then to see if I loose any coverage, from what I understand, I have 30 days to try it out, if I don't like it for some reason, I can change it back. The only other way I know is to get another line and get a VCast phone to see if I can get the E815 onto VCast, but I really don't want to do that since you only have 15 days to try it out. Unless I can find s...

Yes I am using a 256k card and you can do everything but transfer ringtones. You can get this E815 esn turned on. They gave you a line of bull. Odds are as with me the system gave them a error message when they tried to enter your esn. Just tell them that it is a New Verizon phone and to put the esn in. If it does not OTA do not worry just do a manual program of the phone. I had to as mine would not and still does not OTA. I heard this was why there was a delay for the release, A system problem. Then if the OTA does not work and you do a manual program just take it to your nearest vzw store and tell them to install the PRL for your phone. If you need help with the manual program let me know as it is very easy. Also do not let them tell you t...

Sorry! at the end it should have read.
"if it is not on by the 20th which is 7 days from the official E815 release then my guess is there will be no release on the 27th"

eckemner, thanks for the advice, I'll definitely going to take to the store around here and see if they will load the ESN and activate it for me. I posted the same question regarding the ESN problem and some people said is true, but some said I just needed to find the right CS rep and they will definitely force it. I do know a tech at my local store that is very nice, I'll try to see if he will activate it for me. Once I get it activated, I'll let you know if the little camera icon showed up on GIN, I seriously doubt it but will definitely try it.

Thats what I had to do. The first three rep refused to load the esn then I tried again and found a rep that had heard of the E815 and he loaded the esn into the system for me and it worked no problem.

Hmm.... How did you get your phone? There must be different engineering demo phones with different version of software out there. I think there is a way to back up the original software, but you have to use MPT or PST to extract it. I don't really know the exactly sequence on how to do it. If anyone on this forum can guide me and I'll try to extract it.

Theres no way to extract it. You can only edit seems. This person will probably have to wait until the E815 officialy gets released then take it to the VZW store to get it flash updated.

I thought I've read somewhere in HoFo where someone recommend you back up your software before flashing another version of software so you can revert back if needed, I could be wrong, but I thought I saw it on the V710 discussion thread. For example, I thought there was some reference to backing up your software before flashing the Super Dave's version software. Am I wrong on this or are they referencing something else. If this person has to flash it at VZW store, then the phone will probably be flash with the crippled version, am I correct? If so, then this person better keep what he/she has.
