Comparing the v3 and the treo 650 is like comparing a phone to a computer.. Because you are!! lol. V3 is not a smart phone and does nothing more then make phone calls and run a few java based apps. The V3 Razr is so over rated... its the same OS as a v600 in a smaller shell.. infact i flexed my v505 with the Razr software and now its the exact same.. Granted the V3 does look sweet but not worth the money. As for web browsing... The v3 only lets you browse wap sites... pretty slow too. Treo 650 lets you browse full HTML just like your at your home computer and has EDGE so its FAST!

Thank you very much for you input. BUT I'm reding so many mixed reviews about the treo 650 it's like half the people have problems the other half are happy with it. I'm worried i might get the one with all the bugs lol. and when i finally get it all fixed a new model will come up ☚ī¸ Does any one know if and when a new treo will come out?

Right now there isnt any plans for another treo (other then rumors) but even if they did announce another one we would'nt see it untill AT LEAST Summer 2006. And really there isnt much more they can add to make it any better.. mabey a megapixel camera and more memory and UMTS is about all that they could add since this phone already has it all. Its true that this phone does have bugs but don't all phones? The only thing causing most problems right now is older software is causeing reboots but most software have already released updates or have updates on the way to fix these issues. But what it really comes down to is this... Do you want a smart phone? If yes then do you want a Palm, Windows, or Symbian... If you want Palm get the Treo 650.....

I own both.

I am a total phone junkie so I spend more than I should but that's another story.

Anyway, I really like both. I love my V3 for personal use on weekends, family trips and sometimes for day to day stuff at work.

I also love the Treo 650. In fact, I just returned from an International trip where I took the 650 with me. I downloaded the following software: Worldmate Professional, Snapper Mail so that I could seamlessly download direct from my Yahoo, AOL and Gmail accounts at the tap of one button; Teal Lock software to encrypt and protect all of my sensitive credit card, passport and other key personal information.

In short, this phone rocks! I used my 650 EXTENSIVELY and it worked great in every country I was in. It...

I used the Razr for a month and loved the phone - just about everything about it. Not thrilled with the way the screen gets oily and smeared from being next to your face and is hard to clean, suspect the touchpad is not going to wear well. But the voice quality, the implementation of all the phone, contact, and camera features ... none better on the planet in these price points.

I turned it in for a Treo 650 (both Cingular) because the Razr gave me a taste of having internet and email access on a phone. I didn't quite get it until then (even though I'm online constantly and have been for years using PCs and notebooks).

I love the Treo. There are dumb problems with this and that menu and function, but they are all tolerable or trivial.

I own a treo and have none of the problems your facing. Your echo problem is a result of your volume of the earpiece being turned on too loud. Signals/ connection may be weak signal? Everything about my treo works beautifully including the headset. If you're plain not satisfied with the treo but like the features, have you tried the new blackberry?

You get no static with the headset either? I'll try more carefully.

I did see the note in the manual about the echo and did successfully get rid of it by turning down the volume.

I'm going to try a bluetooth headset and see if it works any better than the plug-in.

Honestly, I'm falling in love with it. I am really hoping I can solve these sound issues.

I did send myself a message, and the voice quality is not nearly so good as the Razr. It's tolerable, though.

And the web and email are just great. I'm sure with another card and with the expected bluetooth firmware upgrade, things are going to be pretty nifty.

Any tips of any kind?

And thanks for answering!

Best,

- Bill

Yes, check out treocentral.com Great accessories at great prices! Check out their screen protector. It's reusable meaning you can take it off wash it and put it back on. I have it and I absolutely love it. Hopefully you can get your sound issues resolved. I think it may be the headsets. On my previous phone (Nokia) I got so much static and thought it was the phone but when I got a different headset, it went away. Funny the headset that created all the static was made by the same manufacturer of the phone - Nokia. The motorola headset solved the problem even though Nokia claimed you can ONLY use nokia accessories. Well anyways I've got my treo and I'm in heaven. Good luck. Also, make sure you power off your phone at night when you go...

Thanks very much.

Turns out the main problem was having the volume turned up too high. Keeping it at the middle setting seems to eliminate the echo for the other party. It's actually a troubleshooting tip in the manual. 🙂

I'm extremely happy with it, although still figuring it out and slowly developing usage patterns.

Going to get a screen protector immediately. The one in the box is impossible for me to apply without creating bubbles.

The headset jack is non-standard, which creates problems with my excellent Sony noise-canceling headset. I was really looking forward to being able to use that, but I'll get over it.

I'm already getting hooked on MMS and SMS - driving my friends crazy. 🙂

Now to find a protective lanyard/cas...

Thanks. I'm liking it pretty well. There are a couple of things driving me crazy, but I'm posting elsewhere asking for fixes or workarounds.

I leave my computer on all the time. 🙂
