Not sure about Lexus but I know that the 650 doesn't work with Acura TL and RL HandsfreeLink

Well that sucks. I have the TL and was looking forward to using the handsfree with it. I had the 710 for about a month and that bluetooth was so crippled that it only worked intermittently. I assumed that since they did not cripple 650 it would work. Oh well. ☹️

It looks like there is a shortcoming in the Treo implementation of the handsfree profile keeping it from pairing with the auto manufacturers Bluetooth modules. A serious shortcoming in this day and age with more states requiring handsfree operation and more cars incorporating Bluetooth modules. I have yet to see a phone that would pair with a Lexus that would not pair with an Acura even though they use modules from different suppliers.

Lexus and Acura need the OBEX Bluetooth profile to transfer the data completely to the car.

I don't know if this will help, but I was just able to pair mine with my Acura. I haven't given it the full test drive (sorry for the pun), but so far it seems to be working fine. One thing I think you need to do though to make calls is make sure the screen is on and the keyguard is unlocked because you car won't be able to dial unless the phone is on and unlocked. Receiving calls hasn't been a problem so far, but I will let you know because that was the problem with all four of my 710's that I went through in a month.

Could you possibly give the steps you used because even though I have paired many different phones I could not get this Sprint Treo 650 to recognize our Bluetooth Module. Was your Treo the Sprint or the VZW version?

I have service through VZW. Timing is everything, as I kind of had to do both at the same time. Go to the Bluetooth application. Make sure Bluetooth is on and your phone is discoverable. Go to Setup Devices at the bottom of the screen. Then go to "Hands-free Setup" and walk through the steps. I had to go through it a couple time to time it so that the car was trying to pair with the phone while the phone was looking for the car. They then found each other and I was then prompted for the four digit code that I had stored in my car's hands free system. Be carefull here because the buttons on your phone don't default to the numbers so you will have to press you "options" key to lock the numbers, otherwise you end up with a code like "ER...

I am beginning to think from other posts that Sprint may have some Firmware issues that VZW has avoided. I have been through all these steps including entering the passcode but no connection. Did it connect automatically or was there an additional step to actually make a connection after establishing the pairing as in some other phones? If anyone has any thing else to add I would love to hear from you.

Well I haven't tried myself but my source as to it not working came from Acura's HandsfreeLink site:

We have Verizon and not only did it pair quite easily, it also downloaded the phone book. However, when it downloaded it, it also reversed all the contacts to first name, last name. Are you sure you're using the correct code.

It seems that the Bluetooth issues are only with the Sprint version which is what I was trying to pair. But it is good to hear that VZW may finally be loosening up on the data transfer restrictions they imposed on the v710. In regards to the Lexus database it does file Last Name, First Name up to a display limit of 9 characters. This does cause some thought to be put into how you enter names into your phone to display usefully in the Lexus phonebook(i.e. multiple last names 9 characters or more will be indistinguishable). In phones that don't have seperate first and last fields like some MOTO's it will ignore the first word/name entirely if there are 3 words/names in the title.
