No analog roam?

Why does this phone not roam? If there is a GSM model as well, I don't understand why the phone is digital only. Anyone? Forgive my ignorance on this subject, it just doesn't make any sense to me. This is the only reason why I don't have this phone right now. 😢

You really don't need analog throughout rural Kansas roaming and the phone roams on several other carriers just fine (Alltel, Verizon). When I had a Samsung dual band/tri-mode, the phone seemed to default to analog and then to digital. I wouldn't worry about the analog, you'll get better sound quality and the coverage is just as good with the digital roaming.

By years end, analog will be phased out. VZW is converting all of its towers to digital. They had to, to appease the FCC, and in exchange you'll see some neat new features coming out of VZW.

I hate to say it but Analog is a dying breed. Don't get me wrong. I have a 650 and I love it and I would love it even more if Analog was built in. The fact of the matter is the major driving force behind this is finances. For evey Analog call that goes through a system, the carrier can send three digital calls.

Also new developments, such as SMS, 3G are all dependant on the digital service. the FCC has mandated after 2006 (I believe - don't quote me on this one) that it is up to the carrier's discretion whether they have their Analog networks up or not...
