Man Im so pissed off! I checked my availability for a rebate online and it said 10/25/05 im like wtf!?!?! I been with them since 07/3/03. That means I should have qualified last month in Jan. I called them and they said oh because you changed your phone in april of 04 to the 8200 which I bought with my own money no rebate or nothing. They said I have to wait til october because they started counting over again since april?!?! I mean I been with them for awhile now and im paying at least 100 or more a month for my bill. Is there anything I can do because I really don't wanna pay 400 for the 5600

Honestly, there is virtually nothing that can be done. Possibly if you call customer service and explain why you got it a new phone and if it was replacing a broken phone instead of just buying a new phone they may note the account as eligible for the rebate. Generally though, unless the change is made through lockline then whenever you change phones even just activating an old phone will reset everything.

I think they have this system in place because they are losing money every time they sell phones, the money is made in the service, not the phones.

I recently suffered the same experience with sprint. I had upgraded handsets three times since October 2002 through December 2004 at my own expense. My contract had expired on the phone (four total phones)over a year ago I wanted to upgrade. I was told that it did not matter whether I had paid for the upgrades the unit sic phone must be in service 18 months in order to qualify. I ask what my motivation for keeping a sprint account was or what prevented me from cancelling the existing line and just adding another? Let me just say that these people don't have a clue. Ultimately while in my local Sprint store I queried the manager about this upon which he stated "That is not correct. What phone would you like?" I made my choice and the world h...

Alright listen!!! I've worked for Sprint for 2 years now (I've been a stock holder for 5.) And the biggest complaint I hear is about rebates and people not qualifying for them. First of all do you Know how much Sprint (or any wireless company for that matter,) pays for the phone, (that when you buy it at what you consider full price is already a lost to the company,) do you know how much it cost to put another customer on to the network and maintain that customer. (you pay an activation fee of anywhere from $30 to $50) But it takes them at least 2 years to recoup those fees, (Hince the 2 Year Contract,) Now people like me come into the picture, I replace my phone everytime a new, hotter Sanyo hits the market, (I went from the SCP-5000, to th...

Well I have something to say about that wether anyone likes it or not. If anyone honestly believes that Sprint is paying a lot of money for their phones especially from Sanyo then they must not know nothing about business. Yes MOST of Sprint's money comes from their rate plan sales and their contracts but don't think they aren't making any money out of their phones. Sprint is a Fortune 100 company and they look into every aspect to make money. They barely care about their employees let alone the consumer. As long as they are making money its all it counts. The relationship Sprint has with Sanyo is similar to the relationship Nextel has with Motorola. Sprint is the only U.S. Carrier to offer Sanyo phones. The corporate honchos have made deals...

You are right in many respects in regard to Sprint. But realisticly, what company gives you everything you want with no complaints? No problems? No business is perfect. From a consumer stand point, sprint has been through the ringer to where they are now. I have seen the drastic improvments and some of the disappointments.

I agree the 18month upgrade plan sucks, but before that there was no offer. So really is it that bad? remember, not all consumers are as savy or as into the phones as we are on this forum. We make up a small percentage!
I say this cause I am a Sys Analyst/Tech Sup III blah blah and i no that techies are always out numbered by the non-techies. These are the people who just want it to work.

With Cell Phones its the sa...

You are correct with the price of phones. i see the actual cost of these babies, and sprint IS making off the phone, even though there is some untold rumor that the cost of the phones are higher. Samsung is pricey, and some of the phones are not marked up much, but they are marked up. for instance the 8200 is marked up about $100 from just the cost that I see. but on the otherhand, a samsung a700 which i own, is cheaper for me to buy retail, rather than pay cost.

dude, grow up. call customer care and tell them that when you bought your 8200 you did not receive any kind of discount. 9 chances out of ten, they will mark your account to let you receive the rebate. unless your ignorant about it! if you are a typical customer, you were probably told and did not care or you bought the phone right before the upgrade program started. (i dont recall which month it started in)

Filing a complaint is okay, but you'll be in line with so many others. Customers tell me all day long that they intend to make complaints, call retention or write letters to corporate. Some even file lawsuits- but it doesn't matter because with every customer that leaves sprint, they gain 3 or 4-maybe more than that. I was pissed about the same thing, because I had replacement phones thru the store, and thru the place I work at; lockline. I didn't think that would mess up my upgrade eligibility because 2 of those phones were the same I started out with. That didn't matter. I can't upgrade till 4/06 and I've been a customer since 11/03. Sprint will always keep a lot of customers because it's easy to be a customer with them-that's why they don...

Hey i had a similar problem, except what i did was change my phone number after 6 months, so after i checked my rebate eligibility i found out that those six months weren't being counted, so this week I called sprint and told them about it so what they did is that they applied a $100 rebate available immediately, instead of the $150 which i wouldn't get until october. Not as good as the $150 but at least now i can get the 5600 as soon as it comes out. So just call them back, it always depends on who picks up, if someone doesn't wanna help you out then hang up and call again and you'll get lucky at some point, that's what I did

You actually should get the $150 if the rep put the $100 code in and you take a two year contract.

Not claiming to be an insider, but I worked at the Baton Rouge call center for a year. Yes, you can complain or ask nicely for an upgrade, but it will be the luck of the draw in regards to the associate you get. I actually worked with people who would not give a few courtesy minutes to get someone to the end of the month.

I enventually quit because I couldn't (MAXIMIZE) enough and rather than get fired I quit, I just wasn't good at offering people something they didn't really need, just to up their bill (Bal. Notify----Dial *4). Not to mention I gave out a lot of courtesy min.

But I do recommend and strongly recommend you ask to speak to retention if you don't get satisfaction from a regular customer care associate. Retention has a lot...

Heres teh Scoop on that one. You qualify for the rebate only if your handset has been on your account for 18 months. If it has been less Sprint will offer a retention offer but then for two years you get only half the rebate which would be $75 for 2 yrs. It doesnt matter if you had your account since 1997 it goes by your phone.

😎 OK, Sprint employees' opinions I can deal with, but lets just use some common sense here. If you are in an area where you can walk into a Sprint store, that's your best bet. I know cuz it's worked for me a couple of times when I needed policies to be overridden. Example- I failed to mail in my rebate form on a phone and it was a week late. I was denied the $150 rebate initially, but I waltzed into my local Sprint store and politely explained why it was late and the rep made a phonecall, and sure enough, a couple of weeks later my $150 check came in. The key is being polite- if you immediately get defensive or up in somebody's face, of course they're not going to help you out. But if you're nice, nice things usually happen. The key ...
