Howdy,
I am seriously thinking about buying the d500 but one thing is holding me back and thats the bluetooth. Its says it has blutooth version 1.1 and that ment nothing to me until my friend told me its the worst bluetooth and you can't do anything with it. I mainly will be using the bluetooth to send files wirelessly to other peoples phones.
So will someone please reply and tell me if you can send stuff to other peoples phones using the bluetooth or if not what you can do with the bluetooth.
PLease email to russ91@gmail.com
Thanx Russ 😁

My understanding is that while version 1.1 is an improved standard over Version 1.0, version 1.2 (and 2.0)provides far more acceptable interoperability between devices as well as improved voice clarity and adaptive frequency hopping to reduce interference from 802.1 wi-fi products.
Version 1.2 was released in mid 2003 so I don't understand why Samsung put the old 1.1 version in the D500 other than perhaps it was cheaper to manufacture in ???
I was thinking of buying a D500 too but am now not so sure as I have a bluetooth car kit and need to be assured it is compatible......

BT 1.1 is a good standard. I have no problems with file transfer to PDAs and laptops, audio to a Motorola headset, Dell PDA, and Zoom PCMCIA in a laptop is good.
Your friend doesn't seem to have any experience.

Thanks for the response, always good to hear from someone with experience, without that we are flying blind and there are plenty of examples of "super technologies" that simply don't work

Well I've sent MP3's to and from the phone with both a PDA and a laptop, and JPEG images and video files to/from the same. I don't have another BT phone to try, but if the file type is recognised (and not locked to avoid illegal distribution) I see no problem.
My gripe is not having any reference to SyncML for downloading an address book. The advertisement sais USB/SyncML but nowhere in the manual is it mentioned.

Thanx for that.
I don't wish to be cheeky but could you please send me a picture taken by the phone to my email address so i can see the quality, or even better a video.
Thanx for everything russ.
