Go to www.gsmworld.com and on that site they have a section that will tell you what each country uses for their GMS frequencies. If they have 850MHz (Unlikly), 1800MHz or 1900MHz and your phone is unlocked then you'll be fine. However, if your phone is carrier locked, which it more then likely is you will either have to A) get it unlocked or B) use your cellular companies international roaming which can be anywhere from $0.99 a minute to $4.99 a minute depending on your company and where you are.

IF you can get a SIM card from another provider, maybe if a friend or family member has T-Mobile you could borrow theres. When you place in the SIM card from the other carrier if it turns on and gets service you're golden, if it says enter subsidy code you will have to get it unlocked. As far as I know the unlocking machines are not yet capable of unlocking the SMT5600 but supposedly www.c500-unlock.com can but you do need to pay for it.
