Audiovox SMT 5600 / SPV C500 (HTC Typhoon)

The discontinued AT&T Wireless versions were sent back in February, the newer 5600 through cingular should be hitting stores within the next 1-3 weeks.

too bad the picture is of the AT&T software (note: blue background and mMode icon). not that that's a bad thing, i kinda like the colors..ill have to hit up the stores and see if the new phones have any new software or anything..

I just don't get it -- why are we Americans always so behind? While I admit the Audiovox SMT 5600 (which is called the SPV c500 in Europe) is a nice phone -- I don't understand why Cingular is releasing such an old phone now. The replacement for this phone (called the SPV c550) is supposed to be released in Europe any day now. Even if they didn't want to wait for the upgrade -- they could have also chosen to go with the iMate SP3i which has the EXACT same internal specs as the SMT 5600, but which has an improved joystick design instead of the akward rocker button, as well as a cool silver look. Why Cingular would chose to stock up and offer an old phone is beyond my comprehension!
