see this is the problem with you people, i ask a simple yes or no question and you have to blow it out of proportion. i post a question and if im lucky, a week later, some nonwilling person will either say yes or no. its not a big deal, yet every time i check to see if someone answered, its a big no. if your so busy looking at my previous posts you obviously have enough time to type a two or three lettered word into the message box. its not hard.

It's like I told you before. People aren't on this planet to serve YOU. You don't give, you only take, and yet you get mad when everyone doesn't line up to help you get instant gratification.

Life doesn't work that way, sport.

hmm ill help.
yes
but unless your contracts up you'll have to pay full retail price ☹️ which is usually $100 more than 2-year contract price.
i have the v3i and i'd say that it is definently worth it to upgrade when it comes out!

The Q isn't about a phone upgrade, it's about updating the firmware version to get some of the additional capabilities not tied to the hardware upgrades (like adding video capture to an older V3).

But while you're here, are you saying I can update to the V3i for "full retail" ($100 over the 2 year price) when it comes out, even if my original 2 year contract isn't up, with no early term fee? And if that's true, am I correct to assume I woudn't need to sign a 2 year agreement, since I'm paying "full retail?"

There is no software upgrade to take a V3 to a V3i. If you do upgrade your phone (via Cingular) they add an extension to your contract unless you pay the full phone price.

What do you mean by upgrade? Are you talking software or hardware?

My take was he was wondering if you could update the firmware and have your V3 act like a V3i. I don't know if there are hardware differences between the two, but in theory you could upgrade the software and get at least some of the added capabilities.

It's a good question, I don't think anyone has raised it before. I don't know the answer.

Hardware differences are huge. The v3i has a memory card and different camera as well as more than double the internal memory.

My take is there's no reason to upgrade the firmware of the current Razr to the v3i as there's no advantage, even if it were possible...

There are useful software additions, like iTunes.

yea, because when there is a new model out for a phone, you can usually upgrade the phone with the new version of that phone that is out.i was wondering if that was possible to do with cingular when the get the v3i in. especially since its got iTunes, video capture, more internal memory, and a better camera...

Thanks for the replies
