I went to the local Cingular store in Harrisburg,PA and talked to the manager. He said no insurance not even through Lockline. The battery and charger is different from the other motorola phones. You have to buy a new car charger. Battery pack is a pain to take on and off. The cingular rep fried a guys ATT sim card while I was there. All of his phone numbers were lost. He was pissed!! Worth the money???? I think not!! No insurance available and the need to buy all new charger stuff and having the reps fry your SIM card,,,I'll stay with my V505.

frying the sim card has nothing to do with the phone idiot! maybe a rep with the same intellect as you! why are you concerned about the car charger? if you are going to spend $500 on the phone whats $27 for a new car charger?

I'm not a rep. I'm a consumer. What I saw at the store was pathetic!! Cingluar reps running around with their heads up their ass and a customer so pissed he was about to crawl over the counter because the Cingluar rep fried his Sim card that had over 4 years of information. $500 is no big deal to me. I am to trying to speak for the average consumer. Add up all the extras you are pushing $600 with no insurance. Since I'm a business owner, this phone is covered under my business insurance. You are the idiot!! Think before you type. You have no idea who I am or for that matter anyone else on this site. I'm simply trying to help the average consumer.

Benz, I disagree with the way bdizzle phrased his response, and you can take that up with him/her. 🙂 But I do agree with his/her basic message. Your reasons for knocking the V3 have nothing to do with the phone. ALL cellphone providers have their share of unknowledgeable reps (due to high turnover). If you're concerned, wait until someone you've worked with before is available. A lot of them DO care (and I'm not a rep). I've routinely had to wait for two hours for service whenever I visit a store because of the number of people that expect to get everything free, and then argue about why they can't. It's a tough job.

As for the fried SIM card, how is that the fault of the V3? It could JUST as easily have happened in YOUR phone. If the ...

Thanks for the response. I'm not knocking the phone except when you pay $500 for a phone you should expect to have the phone insurance available through your provider. In this case there is no coverage. The reps did not know until I pressed the issue and got the area manager on the phone and had them fax a list of phone and pda's that are convered under the plan. I will still buy the phone. I have plenty of money;but for the person that does not, the insurance thing blows. As to the SIM card, the rep assured the customer he knew what he was doing and wiped out all of the guys data. If that happenned to me, I'd be on the phone with my attorney. Rep-Employee-negligence. Thanks for your reponse and good luck with the phone. 😎

Cool. I don't really have a lot of compassion for the person that doesn't have the money for this phone, they should be putting the money away for their kid's college, not buying a damm phone!

Enjoy yours, too, it really is a great phone!
