T-Mobile release?

Recently it is listed that Cingular and T-Mobile will carry this phone. I can see why Cingular would carry this phone, but why would T-Mobile?

1. Nokia RARELY releases both the A (GSM 900) and B (GSM 850) versions of a phone with the same model number in the U.S. market. Only the B versions usually get U.S. production. On T-Mobile's network, the GSM 850 band is simply a wasted band.

2. T-Mobile hasn't launched EDGE yet. Is this their launch phone for EDGE?

Those things aside it is still a very nice phone for an entry level to mid level camera phone. I don't see the problem with releasing a phone with edge before it is available, that just means it is there you'll have it available. And the extra band, who really cares, it just might not be there.

is now available in upgrade as well 79.99+tax w/ $30 mail in rebate, and never hurts to have feature (EDGE) before it is released, currently we do have what is considered pocket roaming on 850 frqz and are working on making more roaming agreements in that frqz, we already have several phone that support 850, noki 3595 (some vs) 6800, 6010, and Ipaq 5315 to name a few

another rumors say that T-Mobile EDGE will be launched in several markets in April too, if you can see 3220...

T-Mobile will be launching Edge roughly this September. Although T-Mobile doesn't own the rights to build out on the 850 spectrum they do still have roaming agreements with carriers that do and so you will see most of T-Mobile's phone line-up with quad band. Many of the phones they have already are quad band or use the 850 frequency.
