AT&T Release
I spoke to Joe Webster, our Samsung rep for the northeast. He said he will be in stores June 28th for training on the E316. He estimates a national release sometime in July.

But the second quarter ends june 30, so shouldnt it be out by then. Plus that cant be true, since the att rebate ends july 10, and this phone is on the rebate. So they cant give customers only about a week with this phone and the rebate... can they??

Word on the street is that the phone will be released by AT&T on July 12th. 🙂 Supposively, promotions will be offered as well as rebates.

The time is coming soon. I got one in my store today. Right now the Motorola V600 has the best camera hands down, but looking at the zoom on the Samsung, I may have to snap a few shots here and there to do the ultimate test. One thing I was impressed with is the ability to select the size of the photo. You have the lagest size which is 640X480 all the way down the the smallest size which fits the screen of the your cell phone.

Is it true that this phone DOES NOT have ringer ID capability where you assign a ringtone to a number in the phonebook? i think that's crazy. does it at least have the capability of assigning a ringer to a group or something?

First of all...
When the company says 2nd quarter, that guarantees nothing. As a matter of fact, AT&T is notorious for holding back products. They were supposed to release the Motorola V600 last year, they didnt get it out until the first week of April.
Second of all, as far as the rebate and price are concerned, you again have to realize this a business. As much as they want to meet deadlines, sometimes they just can't. They don't work around customers. They work around what is do-able for the entire company.
They dont give a flying...about just a few hundred people. If they can make sure the product doesn't absolutely suck like the X426, they'll do that first. That way, not only do they actually sellthousands, they dont get thous...

Would you recommend the P716?? when will that come out, how much will it cost?? What would u recommned for now or the future, besides the V600, if i want a flip color phone, w/ external caller id for GSM?? How much will the e316 cost??

The X426 for AT&T or Cingular did not "absolutely suck". It was actually quite a success in the amount of units sold to the amount of units returned. Take the time to read a few reviews from the X426's page. I'm sure you would be hard pressed to find more than a handful out of dozens of reviews that are less than satisfied. In fact, many of the reviews state that it is simply the best phone that AT&T or Cingular offers. Also, as I have owned this phone myself, it seems that you may have been looking in all of the wrong places to find services and accessories compatible with this phone. I have an E-316 beta version, been using it for about 2 weeks, good phone, great camera, nice features. My drawbacks would be low earpiece volume, can only delete items one at a time, no snooze on alarm clock. All and all a nice phone, I just like to hear people when driving sometimes. 🙂 I might have to just get the V600, I prefer motorola functionality compared to the E316. My inside sources say this phone should be out around July 1st, but will see..

I have a friend who works @ attws. Its just a pre-release version. The service lights on the phone when it rings is quite the show, its a good phone but I think I am looking for a v600.

i'm concerned about this phone's release date because someone told me if it comes out within 30 days of my x426 purchase, i can exchange it. the bad news is i got my phone from a store near where i live so i don't know if this can apply to me. i still hope it'll come out soon though, so at least i have a chance 🙂
oh and x426 is really not that bad. hard to find ringtones and pictures but i actaully found a site so that problem is solved.
