I've been looking at pictures of this damn phone for 6 months. It's starting to feel like an old phone and it's not even out yet. I don't know if I even want it anymore, and now it might not be out for 2 MORE MONTHS!!Can someone please tell me why this phone can be working all over the world and all we seem to get here in the States are carbon copy silver flip phones!! I went into a cell phone store here in Manhattan and I counted a dozen different silver flip phones with color screens and cameras.

Hey, I got mine in Manhatten (Park Ave South) in the Begining of August. I ported my # to T-Mobile. Sure reception is spotty, but when it works...it works.

PLUS TMobile has the 6600 series which has the same platform...so all I did was cal them up and the sent via text message the set-up.

OH -- if u sign on for a year with a 3rd party store -- u can get the phone for $300-$400 instead of the $500 on websites.

Hope this helps

I know I can get an import phone from dozens of stores in Manhattan, but I don't want to shell out even $400 for this phone. When I was in Amsterdam recently they were selling the 7610 for 199 EURO with a 2 year contract. I don't expect that here, but I can see it starting at $299 with some sort of mail in rebate like the 6620, bringing it closer to the 200-250 dollar range.
Plus if you get a boxed phone from a carrier like T-Mobile, you can get phone insurance that doesn't require you to go to the trouble of getting a police report. Plus you can still get it unlocked, and it will have GSM 800/850 instead of the 900 Euro versions.
It's taken so long to come out though that I might as well wait for T-Mobile to get there EDGE network up an...

Very Valid points. I was awaiting the V710 -- but after seeing the trouble start to unfold, I quickly looked for alternatives. THough T-Mobile isnt the greatest network for NY, I am finding ways to live with it (But that GOD I never got the V710--it seems to have more problems every day).

I agree, thr 850 freq would have been sweet, and hopefully this phone will be $200-250. I am scared though for the future cause all the phone coming out seem to be getting in the $500 and up spectrum (Razor, 5 MP camera phone, etc).

Good luck! Keep me posted on your decison!
