If you already have the Nokia 7610's Eurasian version, that's perfectly fine for T-Mobile. T-Mobile only uses the 1900 MHz frequency for it's phones, so that 7610 will work as good as any phone T-Mobile sells.

However AT&T Wireless and Cingular use both the 1900 and 850 MHz frequencies, so a Eurasian 7610 will not have full network coverage with those two companies.

i know, it works fine. but the reception is so-so, ill live through it.
the t-zones barely works, download features, aim, email, downloading themes. chat, presence also doesn't work.
the only things i can do basically is play Mp3's through Real Player , Camera/Video, video editing.
and all the real cool features that you can do, you need to be living in Europe/Asia and have a carrier over there.
and the t-Mo, NokiaUsa customer support cant help me with anything 'cause i guess they're not allowed or something.
and i paid around $750 for this phone. damn, i wish i can sell this and buy some other cell phone!!

I'm hearing all kinds of stories with this phone! I hear it works with Cingular, AT&T, and Tmobile....I hear it doesn't work with Cingular...I hear the internet works...then it doesn't...I hear the themes work...then it doesn't.

I think we need to collect data on both versions of the phone and the different US providers to put together a guide for everyone.
I will be testing this unit (not sure its the eurasian unit or the other UK unit) on Tmobile in the next week or two.

If any GSM phone uses either 850 or 1900 MHz, you can make voice calls with a GSM provider in the US (provided of course you have a working SIM).
If a sales rep tells you otherwise, it's just plain ignorance. The whole point of GSM was so that you can use your mobile phone with anyone, anywhere. Granted the 4 different frequencies complicate things a bit though.

Using special features might be a different story. I'm nearly certain features that have been around for awhile, like email or browsing websites on your phone, is just a matter of knowing the right settings to configure your phone. You can't call up ATTWS/Cingular/T-Mobile and ask though, because if they don't sell your phone, they won't support it, but you can always try looking...

I have the phone working on the T-Mobile network. My internet (GPRS) is working, my Multimedia SMS messaging works, and my SMS works (Plus I set up a pop mail account).

How did I get the internet to work? T-Mobile sent me an sms witha set up packet. It installed the correct settings for the phone. How did they do this is they do not support this phone? Tell them you have the Nokia 6600. It has the same OS.

I HAVE NOT gotten Presence, Kodak Mobile, the Chat Programs to work

Has anyone had any success with the Voice Commands? I find it So/So.

you can also go to the nokia website for the settings, under the 7610 support, and select your carrier and they will send you a configuration message which automaticly puts all the right settings on. Mine is currently being repaired since i dropped it in water its taking them a long time since i sent to rogers, mn, which is a backup nokia repair center which doesnt support the 7610 and it was forwarded to melbourne, fl. they recieved the phone there today and have still not recieved a price estimate.
