Good Luck Getting Software Upgrade

Here in Virginia, good luck getting a VX-6100 upgrade from Verizon Wireless. You'll need it.

TRY #1: Alexandria Store (Little River Turnpike): After a two hour wait, I got the phone back to find no software upgrade. When I went back to the store, they said, "Our cable doesn't work and we couldn't upgrade your phone." You'd think they'd tell me that when I dropped it off, or at LEAST when I picked it up. But instead they acted as though the work was already done.

TRY #2: Tyson's Corner Store: I dropped it off, came back two hours later. Result: the phone was broken during the upgrade and a new one would have to be shipped to me. To their credit, they gave me a phone to use until the new one arrived. And don't worry, they said, t...

The software "did" fix my volume bug, totally like the phone now.

I had to drive an hour to get to a Verizon store so I called to verify they had the update and could get it done.

I had 2 phones to update, for some reason they can't do two at a time so luckily I had other errands to do, took a couple of hours. Glad to have the fix!

Correct, most all stores only have one 'update' PC so one at a time. BTW, the time required for the update is dependent upon how many pictures and 3rd party ringtones one has as these are first copied doen to the PC then moved back after the SW (ROM) update.

That was the other thing: when I asked if it would keep my pictures they said that they had no idea. They certainly did not indicate that they would copy any files over first. This was true of both locations.

I did call many times, but that Alexandria location wasn't answering the tech support line. It wouldn't matter even if I did, since when I dropped it off the lady thought they could do it, and still thought so after I picked it up.
