Extended Battery/Charging Time/Software Updates

I just received my extended battery for the VX-6100 which was backorder for a couple of weeks after I got the phone online so I'm checking to see how long the battery charge can last. I'm receiving a minimal amount of calls on it and I'm trying to minimize its usage.
I do have one question though. In the user's manual, it states "keep the phone charged when not in use to maximize talk and standby time". Does that mean when I'm home, the phone should be left plugged up charging until I leave the house? Or, as it says further on in the manual, "the maximum charge time for a fully discharged battery is 3.5 hours", meaning, don't ever let the phone charge for more than that period of time? I'd appreciate a little clarification from anyone in ...

regarding your question about the charging info in the manual-- I believe that what they mean by "the maximum charge time for a fully discharged battery is 3.5 hours" is the longest time it would actually take to charge the battery in a fully discharged state, ie., it will take no longer than 3.5 hours. I don't think this means do not leave it connected to teh charger longer than 3.5 hours. I posed a similar question a while back regarding whether it is safe to leave the battery charger connected and if the phone can be overcharged by doing this. Another forum member (TheMrBillShow) responded indicating basically that the phone will not overcharge.
Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the info. I still have 4 full bars of battery charge after about 48 hours.

I recently exchanged a Samsong a650 for the LG 6100 and my daughter finds that there are fewer options available for downloading wallpaper from Get It Now. I just read that availability depends on model. Can anyone advise me about this?

Thanks, Sara

My experience is quite different. The charge on my extended battery lasts less than 36 hours with light use. The last time I let it go to the end of the charge I had less than 15 minutes of air time. Basically I find the battery life on this phone horrible.

I've had about 10 minutes of actual phone usage. I've also maintained a full 5 bars of signal strength during this time. And now with more than 72 hours since my initial 3.5 hours of charging, I still have 4 bars of battery charge indicated.
I will admit that from my prior experience with cell phones, after such a long time with an indicated full charge, after, say a 15 minute phone call, the charge indication rapidly decreases. I've seen it drop to 2 bars remaining after such an event.
I'm keeping my hopes up that this isn't the case.

I utilize this phone quite alot for my business. The Battery lasts for atleast 2 days with more than normal use at which time there are still 2 bars of battery life left. So I am pleased with the Battery Life at this time. I was considering buying the extended life battery, but until I have a good reason, I will be holding off.

I finally received the Low Battery Charge Alarm on my phone with the extended battery that was initially charged 10 days ago. I had let it initially charge for the 3.5 hours as stated in the manual and total talk time/ phone usage was about an hour and a half during that time period.
I'm satified with these results.
