LG VX-6100
6000 w/o analog might be better for some locations
I have had this phone for 4 days now and i like it but there is one major problem. At several locations i go to, the 6100 goes into analog mode and the signal is not strong enough to have a conversation at all. With my old 6000 the phone would roam onto sprints network and signal was perfect. Havent read the book yet but if there is no "dont use analog setting" im stuck with going back to the 6000.

You are now in the "Field Test/Service Menu" where you can force the Preferred Mode... Just select "Force Mode" press [OK] select a Mode and press [OK]
You can set "Digital Only" if you want... then it will not go over to analog...
You should also try setting "Cell Only" (might say "CDMA")... This will force the phone away from the 1900MHz band and may take you to the extended network in your area (not roaming), and may give you a very good signal...
You can leave this settings area at any time with the [END] key...
This works on all currently available LG Phones

You suggested "cell only" but you said it also might say CDMA (this phone has both) so should we try "cell only" given it has both options?

Cell only will use the 800MHz band in CDMA digital or AMPs (Analog)...
CDMA only will use only the CDMA (digital) mode in the 800MHz band...
PCS will use only the 1900MHz band in PCS (digital) mode...

The is no "best"... You have to try the different modes in the areas you frequent... it all depends on service availability...
The Audiovox 9900 has a "Digital Only" mode, the 6100 does not...

It depends on you location in relation to the areas towers and what networks Verizon uses in you area for it's extended network...
Try them in this order... "Cell Only" / "CDMA Only" / "PCS"...

Yes, but it forces the 800MHz band... CDMA digital is preferred and it will switch to analog if 800MHz CDMA (digital) is not available...

PCS Only = 1900MHz band CDMA only...
