This whole phone thing has been so f'ing ridiculous. I talked to a woman tonight on the 800 number to find out that the phone was being released TODAY to my Washington DC office, but that I can't do all of this stuff and I have to go to a store to get the phone and do the NE2. Last year when I tried they said they would send me the contract because they understood that the closest verizon store to me was an hour away and for a college student thats a long way to go. the store near me doesn't even know what the phone is, and the second closest store to me is in north carolina, and I cant do jack you know what there because thats a different region. sooo I guess im just never getting the phone because by the time i am back in northern va durin...

Can you just buy the damned thing online off of the VZW website? And take care of the NE2 stuff there as well?

no cause its not showing up on the internet, she said I couldn't anyway cause I had to sign a new contract in the store, and that even I couldn't do that because the account is under my moms social security number and since thats not mine I can't do it. that was then followed by my mother telling me shes not going back there cause whenever we go we have to wait like 2 hours cause they are slow as none other. plus, she said I had to do online billing if i signed up through the website and im not doing that.

The phone just came out! I called the 800 number, (1-800-2JoinIn), and they said I can upgrade, and handle the whole thing over the phone, but the phone is not yet available at all in the Chicago area. They told me to call back around 10/31, as that's when it's expected.
They said I'll get the NE2 price. They said I wouldn't have to go into a store.

You CAN do a NE2 upgrade through telesales (18002JOININ)

just call that number directly instead of *611.

No problem.

They send you a reference number, you call an electronic signature capture line, punch in your reference number and they record you agreeing to a two year plan.

Takes less than five minutes.

You can also go to the website and choose upgrade. It takes you right through the process and gives you the online discount and the NE2 $100. Make sure you choose a 2 yr contract.

I do my billing on line, but I still recv a bill at home as long as you do not supress your paper bills. So I think you could still pay without doing on line billing in the future.

I too have an online account, but don't pay my monthly bill online. You get the same features and options as one who does. It's all up to you, but yes, you can definitely upgrade online...and if its your NE2, I must say, it's nice to see so many phones with the $0.00 price 😉

Strange. I tried that just last night, and couldn't. I'm eligible for NE2, but when I followed the "upgrade phone" link, all the phones were listed at the regular prices. No NE2 discount applied. (And yes, I told it 2 year contract). I called 611, and they told me that you can't NE2 online, and you can't NE2 by phone. You MUST do it in person at a Verizon store.

You definitely can NE2 online. You do have to set up an online account, but that only takes a minute.
I ordered mine online, and all the phones came up with the NE2 price.

According to cus svc the NE2 price should be:
basically free - 149.99 (minus 100.00) plus a 50.00 rebate. Make sure you're getting the right price & the rebate 🙂

The price I'm getting online is $99 ($249 - $100 NE2 discount - $50 online rebate) for the Chicago area. Does this vary by region? Or do I have to go into the store to get the lower price?

You have to choose a 2 year contract, it should not vary by region. As a matter of fact I bought mine in a Western region and it worked out to be free.
