T637 Cingular Rebate

I am planning on getting a T637 through Cingular around the first week in July in DC metro area. Cingular currently has the phone for $149.99, with a $50 rebate if you purchase before June 30. Does anyone know what if any specials Cingular will be running on that phone after July 1st?

check out amazon. they currently have a $175 rebate, plus Cingular's $50 rebate. they charge $200 for the phone, so you net $25 when the rebate checks eventually arrive. i have no experience with Cingular rebates, but i've done an Amazon rebate before (for some version of macosx) and the rebate was promptly and honestly handled.

What to do if you are a happy Cingular customer, and thereby do not qualify for a "make a profit on a T637 w/new plan" incentive?

How long will it take for the price to drop below $200, as the T616 did?

then, i suspect, you're probably out of luck. if you are no longer under contract, you could buy a new phone, activate new service for it, then cancel your old. you'd lose your phone number doing this, though.

you could also call them and ask if you can get a discount on it in exchange for signing a new 1 or 2 year contract.

or, failing all that, pony up the $250 for the new device ... historically, i tend to buy my replacement phones near the end of their market life, when they're being deeply discounted by the carrier. my last couple Sprint phones cost me about $50 after $150-200 of rebates at CompUS...

Well said. I just wish that (all of) the carriers put a little more focus on retaining customers. It's really easy now to leave and take your number with you. Seems as though they are more interested in offering heavy discounts to acquire new customers than to get existing ones to extend their contracts for a year or two. Either way they'll make money, so why not give their loyal "evangelists" the same ($25 profit) deal?!?

The difference of cost for this phone between ATT Wireless and Cingular really has me irritated. I have been waiting forever for this phone to finally come out (since the T630 was first announced) so I can finally get rid of my old crappy Nokia phone with T-Mobile service. With my luck (or lack of), there is no Cingular service in Utah - only ATT. As much as I want this phone, I refuse to pay $200 for it when Cingular sells the same phone for $50 cheaper directly through them or better yet - $225 cheaper through Amazon.com with rebates. What's the deal here ATT? 😡 Anyone else share my frustration?

Not sure if this has been posted before.....
I got my t637 from ATT for $150 from the ATT store. Employee practically volunteered to sell it for that much. If i'm not mistaken, if you get the phone off the ATT web site it would be $150 ($270 - $70 rebate - $50 online discount). I figured that's why the store offered it for $150 so readily.
