if there is a 8100 really coming out, i'd wait. there are several complaints about the 8000 powering off by itself even with full battery. People have been exchanging them for new ones with no luck. check out howardforums.com for more info.

I'm a newbie and this is my first post so my 2 cents might be worth just 1 but here goes:

I have the 8000 and have had no problems what so ever as alot of other people don't either while a few do.

It (IMO) is unlikely any of us will find the perfect phone, specially through Verizon. If one waits long eneough for a certain phone, as soon as it comes out there will be a better one coming around the corner so you could end up waiting and waiting and.......

As for the 8000, it is a great phone. If you did get get one and it had the power shutting off problem it would be evident shortly after you started using it. I also believe if a phone has to exchanged 3 times for the same problem, it can be swapped for a different mod...

I have the power shutting off problem with mine, and it took approximately 4 weeks for the problem to happen. And I don't know who told you about switching a phone 3 times entitles you to exchange it for another model. I had a phone exchanged 6 times, and I was still stuck with it (the V710).

I would recommend waiting for the 8100. Even if the bluetooth (which is definately going to be crippled, I have that from a VZW rep) is not a big deal to you, the 8100 is a little smaller while still having the same large internal screen. And the 8100 will have 512MB of built in memory and also have a Mini-SD card slot. That will help immensly with pictures and MP3 storage.

Plus, phonescoop says that the 8100 will be out in the second quarter. While that may be optomistic, I don't think it will be much later than that. The reason the 8000 was so late is because VZW held it back until they rolled out EVDO and V-Cast. That is out now, so there should be no reason to hold back the 8100.
