The new software will fix some parts of bluetooth but you will lose the ability to download mp3s and use as ringtones. So download all you want. Software still in testing

Just thought you might like to know that i flashed my phone with superdave's firmware from hofo. The ability to move ring tones is there. Also there are too many fixes to get them all in here. examples are and you might pay attention russel - reported fixes in car kit use (this one i don't know about first hand) on my phone it has given me the ability to clear voicemail-missed call messages from the phone using the button on my bt headset. the phone now pairs with the computer via bluetooth and i can transfer files to the phone and even access the tf card from mpt 3.11 wirelessly. Ear piece volume is reportedly better although i have never had this problem. and many many more fixes

Rob: How about that problem somebody reported earlier about roaming and out-of-plan minutes being charged for?

I was wondering, does anybody have experience reported on that?

I believe that problem was related to the altell flash and some of the seem mods to 41a seem that were done before. That made me leary and i didn't do the last flash because it incorperated altell firmware. This is reportedly (i can't verify) from a beta version of verizon's own flash soon to come. I have experienced no issues to date-- well one maybe -- on your phone is there an icon on the front lcd that tells what ring mode you are in-- if not then no glitches what so ever. blutooth works with my computer the way i wished it would and volume is much louder - not that i needed that - the fuctionality with the bt headset is awsome and with superdave's flash all of the ability to move stuff around on your tf card is still there -(although yo...

Rob -- what hardware is required to pull off the flash update? Is the procedure spelled out somewhere on HoFo?

I'll likely wait for a while yet to see what happens -- but I'd like to have the equipment and be prepared if the Verizon 'fix' falls through.

ok first you need to buy yourself a usb cable preferably an oem one (there are cables with mpt for sale on ebay) then you need 2 programs available on hofo
1) motorola pst 7.1.1 ( a patch called the uni)
2) Pk2 seem

alot of the programs are above

now the whole process is painfully easy but getting everything set up to do it is complicated. basically you need to install pst 7.1.1 (do not instal the triplets update what ever that is ) then install the pst uni patch by directing it toward the directory that holds pst.
now that you have tha tprogram running download superdaves fir...

Abuelsamid,

I'm going to try and flash my v710 tonight, would you happen to have a specific set of directions to follow for a successful flash? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Check out the post above from spiff. It has links to the software and the threads on howardforums. Basically you install the PST software and the key patch. Then you plug in the phone and flash. I have done my phone and 2 others today all successfully.

Okay, I'm having problems with mine... I installed PST 7.11 and the patch on a folder on my destop. PST is a .RAR file, while the patch couldn't detect anything when I doubleclick the patch thinking that I need to do something with it before flashing. Also, I read that you click on programs->pst... etc. to flash. I don't have pst there. I'm confused since the PST 7.1.1 that I downloaded isn't an executable program. Is there something that I'm missing that enables me to flash my phone? I have the motorola usb cable. Please help!!

Rar files are archives like zip files. Download a copy of winrar from http://www.rarlab.com/ and then extract the setup files for PST. Once you extract the archive run the pst setup and then copy the uni_patch to the pst progam files directory. Run the uni_patch from the pst directory and patch all the files. Once you have done this run the MultiFlashFlex.exe file and flash away.

Can anyone be more specific about editing the images? The flash is easy to understand, but Rob wasn't too specific on the seem editing.

There are several images at the download site, but I can't see how to edit them into the flash.

So then you edit the SEEM right on the phone, and not edit the SHX file, correct?

How do you get the new GIF files onto the phone?
...
spiff

Dec 12, 2004, 8:43 PM
that one is beyond me you have to rip the shx file out into 3 bin files and then use a good hex editor to replace the gif and then recombine the three bins into a shx then flash with that. .that part got away from me i have stuck with seem 449 which is the outside banner when open and 296a which is the verizon wireless on the inside screen that comes and goes

sorry

luck to you

No, and neither has the craped voice quailty. at this point. However I think from the discussions i have watched and participated in the ocurances are few and far between maybe 5% of the people who have flashed are experiencing difficulties (that doesn't make you feel any better when you are one of them) the flash is really cool when it is done and working. every thing about the phone is a little better -- i just cannot justify having the phone on the fritz because it is my work phone so when i get my replacement phone on tuesday we will not be flashing (the phone and i) I never had the battery issues with my phone and most others never experienced the voice thing although enough did that i know it isn't just in my phone

luck to everyone...

Hello guys, i need some help in changing my phones from an Alltel carrier to a verizon. I tried putting in the verizon software but inside it still has the access shop icon instead of the push cart. If anyone has any solution to this i appreciate your help. Thanks.

Stupid question.... So if I get the flash from Verizon (seems way to complicated for me to do myself) I can still send myself mp3 ring tones right? And I can't have free web (which I could never do/figure out anyway) ...

Supposedly the flash from VZW wont allow you to transfer ringtones and pics and stuff like that. The flash from superdave on HOFO allows you to do that while correcting the bluetooth situation. I just flashed my phone with it with no problems. All I need is a bluetooth adapter.

A quick warning to anyone considering the superdave flash - an increasing number of people are reporting greatly diminished battery life after flashing, and flashing back to the original doesn't fix the problem.

Not everyone reports these symptoms, but enough people have that it seems more than coincidence. There's nothing conclusive at this point - I think the new flash is really nice in a lot of ways, but my battery dies very quickly now. Just a word of advice - scan the posts over at Hofo before trying this.
