Big ?: If I return my v710, which Verizon phone to get?

Well, we're pretty bummed with the v710. It's a big letdown. We're still in the 15 day trial, and thinking of returning them. It's really hard to believe the hype regarding software fixes, and these phones were really expensive. So...can anyone familiar with the other options at Verizon suggest another good phone as a replacement? Thanks.

the audiovox 9900 or motorola v810 would be ideal if the come out, they should this month, if analog is not important for u i think the lg vx7000 has good reviews

I compared the reviews for the upcoming two phones, Audiovox 9900 and LG VX-8000 and there is simply no perfect phone. Neither phone has the memory slot nor BT at all. The LG will take the best pictures, if camera quality is important to you. The V710 is a horrid camera. The Audiovox, if like its predecessor, will disable the speakerphone after each call, which I consider bad. And if you want the external display to show the time and missed calls, the 8000 will not do that either since both have external LCDs.

You need to make a list of what is important to you. I currently have all Moto accessories since my husband has a T720 and I was anxious to get the BT headset. So today I got my new HS810 and so far it is great. I drive 50 m...

Here are some other phones that you might want to consider if you are willing to wait a bit:

Nokia 6255i - a bluetooth phone with even more features than the V710, should be out by the end of the year for Sprint, sometime at the beginning of next year for Verizon... A huge amount of features distinguish this phone from all others, including IR port, USB port, bluetooth, camera, voice dialing, expansion card slot, etc.

Panasonic X700 - one of only two *Smart* bluetooth clamshell phones. It has lots of features. It's also a GSM phone, meaning it will likely be offered by AT&T and/or Cingular but not Verizon. It has only recently been announced & not too seems to be known yet

Bottom line......

Nokia 6255i - Only one of these that will work on VZW
Panasonic X700 - Will NOT work on VZW
Motorola V551 -Will NOT work on VZW
Motorola MPx220 - Will NOT work on VZW

The original poster asked for VZW phone options. You wrote "Here are some other phones that you might want to consider if you are willing to wait a bit." What I was saying is except for one phone all of the phones you mentioned were non-VZW. Thus, most of the options you presented are not applicable for his/her situation. That's the point.

Okay, I guess I am unfamiliar with the Verizon return policy...

I thought you could also cancel the contract agreement and be done with Verizon entirely, no obligation (is that correct?).

Anyways, because of that I thought he/she had the option to leave Verizon & was free to shop around anywhere for a good phone. Thus the list of both CDMA & GSM phones...

I thought you had 15 days to decide to stay with Verizon. And 30 days to exchange the cell phone? Is this true? BTW my GF just bought LG7000.She loves it.

If you want an outstanding, new tech, and high quality phone with good service/reception, try the Samsung MMA700 from Sprint.

I had been a long time (8 years) Motorola/Verizon customer, but Motorola bombed with the V710 quality and Verizon crippled what remained of the highly touted features for their own "business profit".

Motorola lost their edge after the great StarTac and Verizons good reception is now being overshadowed by their greed!

I have switched to Sprint for quality and service; my gain --Moto/VZW's loss!

Nicely put! Thank you Stockholder!

If enough consumers rejected the "Bill Gates/Microsoft" model of accepting defective products that the manufacturers would "fix later", then companies would not try to push half-baked, not ready for release merchandise
off on an unsuspecting public....
