Inner screen stays lit when closed?

So how's this for battery efficiency? I was stting in a dark room last week, and noticed that when I closed my phone, there was still light coming out from the screen. If I "peek through the crack" as I close the phone, I notice the image on the screen disappears and the screen just goes white (or gray or blue, not sure). Anyway, it stays on until the outer screen turns off. Is this a bug? Anyone else see this behavior? Is there a fix?

It would appear that internal and external screens share the same CCF backlight (though the outside was supposed to be OLED, or was that the v810... Level 3 techs crack one open and see if you can validate that they share the same CCF backlight...

I am pretty sure you are right. I do not think that OLED displays are developed enough for graphics. all OLED displays seem to be minimal resolution and minimal color depth. So I am almost certain that you are correct. must have been the v810 looks to be the case.

if it is true, my first reaction is to say its wasteful, but then I think that most of the time the outside screen is on the inside screen is on, only for the 10 or 15 seconds the outside one stays on while phone is closed is "wasted" rather than having to source power for 2 charge pumps...

Yes, as I mentioned in the orignal post it does turn off when the outer display shuts off. It is just very odd that the phone knows to clear the screen as it is closing, but not to shut off the back lighting? Hopefully it will be fixed with the next firmware becasue my battery life is horrible, and I am sure keeping the screen lit when closed doesn't help!

Its because both screens use the same light so if one is on so is the other

Well its used to save battery life. There is only one backlight in the phone as opposed to two. This way they only have to use one light. It lights both screens. There will not be a firmware fix, and it is not using more of your battery power.
