The store in Del Mar said they got the email Mon saying to sell the phone immediately, so it was out on the 9th. The store had tons of phones, whereas others I called had a limited # and they weren't selling. Not all stores created equally...
The reason they were given to start selling was that RS was eating their sales. I see...it took 2 weeks to figure that out?
The phones were flying off the shelf when I was there. It is a sweet deal for $219-$70, they were pushing it hard too "this is our LATEST phone..."
They didn't know much about it, I helped them sell a few while waiting - after I confirmed there were plenty in back ;)
