the confirmed released at verizon wireless store on nothern blvd in queens is the 12th however the official release date is the 11th. furthermore some stores started to sell the phone today for example in nassau county to be specific at green acres mall they are selling it but the quantity is limited they only have 10 the next shipment is this tuesday.
Just to let you what i said previously is true.
the software update from *228 option 1 is working and also dont buy fones from radioshack because they all were release with an ealier firmware if you did buy one then do the updates but still everyone who the phone this month will still have to have their phone flashed begining october 1st not matter if you got it from verizon. just update ur ...

moron if you bought the phone at radioshack or are waiting to get it from verizon its the SAME THING! Firmware is the SAME! Motorola didnt mass produce a bunch of phones and say oh wait lets stop and change the firmware on the ones that are going to the verizon stores.

i know that you said the one store in nassau county did have the phone and was selling it. Can you give me there phone number to confirm this, or the zip code .

vzw green acreas mall nassau tells me they have none never did and are not selling it yet

*228 will say its doing somthing, but it WILL NOT update the firmware and is pointless unles your activation the phone for the first time.

Not entirely true. *228 and option 2 should be done at least once a month to make sure you have the latest PRL.

As far as OTA of firmware, you are 100% correct. There are no immediate plans to allow that. It is too risky to wipe out and over write the phone's OS over the air... Moto has talked about it, but I have yet to see it, or believe in it.

P.S. did you hear? 😳

verizular will services the v710. It's a pentaband cdsm phone. with HD Direct tivo. It's really nice textvison service and EV-1x low band internet.

Let me know if I missed any features 😛

Althought trivial and probably expensive, I think Motorola should assign a "set" amount of memory so that the user can dail a number (maybe *228 ?) and have the latest firmware version downloaded. Then, After disconnecting, the phone would flash itself, however, this memory that is set asside would not be effected by flash. This would allow the phone to install the new firmware with a lower risk of destroying the phone. The only problem is, this feature would be expensive and most people (except advanced users) would never bother doing it. Take my mother for example. Got the Vx6000 a little more than a year ago. After doing my check on Ho-Fo, I realize that a new PRL has been released. So I update my phone, and decide to be a good son and up...
