They're selling them at radio shack.

The Verizon rep at the store told me that Radio Shack is selling "tester" units, presumably meaning they have been used.

I don't know if that is true or not, perhaps one of the Verizon folks I've seen on this forum knows the answer to that. Or someone who works for RS.

Well, if mine was a tester unit, the person must have never taken it out of the plastic packaging, not a scratch / ding or fingerprint on it. That VZW Rep is full of crap...

Maybe by tester they mean, a select number of units that are being used to gauage some of the issues they haven't caught. And as they become more apparent the user would return to RS for replacement. I don't think they might i have been used, but I am curious if they are giving RS the models that were made earlier. we already know they don't have the latest firmware.

That's pure conjecture and people are taking it as fact. Thing is, either way it doesn't matter, I have my phone now and if there is new firmware, i'll get it as soon as it's out. It's funny how people are never satisified, I want my phone, I want it now -- oh, it's available, well, I don't want that phone, it might have older software on it.

VZW CS reps say I can only upgrade through one of there direct stores, But they're all confused about the release date; out of three reps that I spoke to, they all gave me 3 different launch dates, 7/11, 7/17 and 7/7. So now I'm pissed and still waitng for mine.... 👿

Obviously you meant 8/11, 8/17, 8/7 😉

I think it is so retarded and pathetic that if you go to a Verizon store they have absoloutly no friggen idea what you are talking about when asking about the v710...Why isn't Verizon hyping the phone yet?...Makes no sense at all to me...By this time I would think they would at least be having the dummy phone on display.

I think a 7 foot poster in the window and ad's every 2 hours (at least in my market) sites like phone scoop and Motorola's own ads and sponsorship is hype enough.

As far a dummy test phone. Verizon has a policy not to put out a test phone for any product that they do not sell. And this phone is not available for sale. Yet. I assure you that come the 11th or 12th, 13th by the latest, there will be a dummy test phone.

Go into Radio Shack. They don't have any test phones either. Why? Because Radio Shack doesn't have any phones to sell either. They are sold out and can't not say when they will get more. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. Maybe next month.

my local radioshack still has some available if anyone wants them. I have to buy it at full retail AND I have a corporate account...so I have no choice but to wait, if anyone is interested in the location, let me know. I just went there yesterday and had one in my hand.

My other concern w/ Radioshack's Moto phones, is that I do not think they come w/ the same 1 year manufacture's warranty...... I had a problem with that a few months ago. VZW did not want to repair or replace my old v60i- because I purchased it thru Radioshack. And Radioshack wanted to ship out my phone for repair but it would've taken two weeks to receive the phone. Later I found out that all I had to do is remove a small label behind the phone to fool VZW reps- They then replaced the phone. 🤣

But I certainly do not want to go through that again.

I don't know who told you this, its not true. We as reps./tech. have access to see where you bought your phone as well as were you activated it. As of a couple of months ago, cst's can now take their phones that were bought (no one cares where as long as it's within the one year warranty) to a VZW store and a TECH. has to assist you. This is our new policy.

Then I don't know why, but after I removed that label They didn't bother me with policies or why nots, they replaced it without any hassle.....But it was about a year ago so who knows about their new policies.

I just got back from the mall. I live in New Jersey and it was the Garden State Pkwy Mall in Paramus.

I went by the Verizon kiosk. The Verizon/Motorola phone rep just so happen to be there. Very nice young lady.

First she and the manager told me they do not have any v710's "hidden" under the counter or "in the back". They do not have any phones. Nor does any Verizon store or kiosk have any phones. The phones will not be shipped untill later this week for a 8/11 release. Like the video stores with DVD's. Verizon is under contract not to release the phone until 8/11. Any Verizon store selling or activating any v710 prior to that date is violating the contract between Motorola and Verizon.

As far as the phones being sold though Radi...

Good question. I didn't think to ask. I would assume they would be. You see there really is no "phone" to update. It' is the phones software. And when the sales rep "activates" your phone the current phone software is "downloaded" to the phone. I signed up for email alerts from both Motorola and Verizon for the last two phones I have had... anyway, I get email updates from time to time to go to my phones set up and download a new piece of software to update something... speed dialing... roaming... data transferring... etc.

Ok, just to clear up a few things about what I have heard from the Verizon store in my mall (FL). It is correct that they will be receiving phones either today or tomorrow. However, it will be 2 per store (with the rest of the shipment arriving later this week to Monday or Tuesday of next week) just like RS had received. These are tester models ONLY! They wanted to be able to demo the phone for a week before they can officially sell it. You know, introduce people to it who may not have heard about it yet, even though that number is probably slim to none by now. Seems peculiar that RS received the same amount when they first launched them. Hmmm? Those phones were also supposed to be store tester models, but since they are not bound by any con...
