v710 + Palm T3

After a furious drive to the local Radio Shack, I bought my v710 today. Great unit...but so far I'm disappointed with the Bluetooth functionality.

The v710 and my T3 are able to recognize each other, but can share no data. Same deal with my PC/v710 BT connection. I can begin the dialing process from the T3, but it disconnects the call when the BT connection ends.

I called Motorola today, who told me to call Palm. Palm said...you guessed it..."call Motorola". BT functionality is critical to me, and it may be a deal breaker if I can't use it to expand my PAN. I MUST have BT connections that work well. It will probably kill me but I may return it if I can't resolve this issue.

Any other v710/Palm users out there? Any luck?

I believe the problem is with motorola's bluetooth software. I had the same problem with my godbrothers v600. I couldn't send any data between it and my axim x30. Maybe u should read the manuals more in depth if u haven't already. Hope this helps. 🙂

I got it to work with my T3 and my Dell D800 - both for Dialup, no file transfers. I used the Mot TP820 profile on the T3 to get the palm to connect to the phone. I haven't gotten the dialer to work though, think I need a driver from palm for that

Use the Phone Link applet in the Launcher to set up the whole thing.

I got my dialer to partially work (Beyond Contacts) in which it does send the number and the phone dials it, but when the T3 disconnects, the V710 ends the call.

There's no profile for Internet dialing (T-Mobile and AT&T is all that is there.) What did you use for that?

I used Resco Explorer to attempt a file transfer and it failed. So, that's not good. Haven't tried from my PC to the V710.

Disconnects the call huh, that's lame. Worthless almost. Which phone did you use, since the 710 isn't listed in the updater?
I did a 14.4k call for both my palm and notebook dialouts.

Sorry - didn't answer your question, created a new connection, used the Mot TP280 for my model, wiped out the init string. Which model/connection combo did you use for the dialer (which dials phone #'s for you from the contacts list)?

Thanks for all of your responses. I've tried making a "new connection" in Preferences -> Connection on the T3, using all available motorola drivers.

When dialing a number from my contacts on the T3, the "best" result I'm able to achieve is using either the v70 or TP280 driver with the init string wiped out. In both cases, the number is dialed and the connection is kept after BT disconnects. But the v710 says "data 14.4" and has the little data icon instead of the "two phones" icon, so I think the v710 treats the call like data instead of voice. Although the connection is made and kept, the v710 earpiece and mic don't "start up".

In the other BT string, philm suggests that we might end up having to wait to get help from Verizon on...

I used the Motorola TP280i. But when you use Phone Link, it adds your phone to the list (but asks you to pick a phone during set up, which was the TP280i).

Ya, totally lame! But it may be a difference in how the TP280i works and this one does.

Too bad Palm doesn't release updated profiles.
