Anybody want to know how? Of course you do. Ok, here's the deal...... it's kinda complicated so read carefully. Radioshack has these phones in their DC's right now! What that means is you can go to your local RS store and order the phone ( 17-1971 ) through the "Direct2U" service. And if you want you can pay $80 more for next day shipping. So, here's the catch. In order to order your phone now you would have to come up with all $520 right now. The good news is, once you get the phone, you go back to that RS store and say "I would like to return this phone and I would like to buy it again, but I want to do it as an upgrade this time." This means that you get your $520 back and pay either $320 or $350 depending on the length of your c...

Last i checked the sku was not active. (i just check thed website and it still is ) So without an active sales sku you can't order a it via Direct2U.
And technically you can't refund you shipping. Cause you asked for/payed to get the phone next day and you got it next day.

I'll chalk that post up to ignorance of how RS does business. To a sales person there is almost no commission difference between an unactivated cell phone sale and an activated one. In fact the sales person would actually make slightly more from the sale when the customer comes back with the phone to return/activate it than they did when the customer first bought it. However in the stores in my district it is common knowledge if the customer decides to choose a shipping method other than basic ground shipping it is non-refundable to the customer. The reason why this never comes up is because in most cases other than RSU ground shipping is free.

I am on board with patiently waiting. You try this method and you are probably going to shoot yourself in the a$$ (in addition to losing a lot of time explaining yourself). You waited this long, a few extra days won't kill you.

Just called my local RadioShack and he confirmed that he can order it for me and he said do not pay the shipping. He said it would be at my door in 2 to 3 days with standard shipping! I will hav mine by wednesday!!

I just hope it is a good phone. I have been very happy with the vx7000 but I want to try the v710 as I like the analog option. I have no intention of returning it to try and get a cheaper deal from them. Fair is fair, I get the phone early so I guess I pay a little more for it. Now we need to skip the next few days so it will come!!!!!!!!!!
