I just got fired
I was a verizon wireless sales rep and they fired me today. I hate that company. Trust me...sign up with Cingular..In about a year Cingular will be very close to Verizon quality. And I mean before the AT&T merger. Trust me no matter how good the service is..the ethics and the way they view customers (behind closed doors) is very very shady and upsetting.

I didn't hit quota a few months in a row because I don't like to trick people over the phone into resigning their contracts which is a major part of sales rep quota. And despite the fact that on the record management will you must give full disclosure over the phone, they know, and promote trickery.

and you do not have an axe to grind... do you? Trust me... I left AT&T on my own and in good graces and I chose to go to VZW for the exact reasons you are touting Cingular & ATTWS. After hearing nothing but complaints about ATTWS and their service and care response and when LNP came online, I tracked where "our" customers were going to and the vast majority were going to VZW. I could have stayed with ATTWS but I went to the better provider.

Funny... Verizon has the best customer service rating out of all the cell phone companies. Not to mention that Cingular is on the inferior TDMA network and quite likely will remain so for years to come. And VZW ports in 4-5 Cingular numbers for every 1 we port to them. Sounds like you're just angry because they realized you weren't a good employee.

Cingular is GSM, jerky. And give GSM about 6 months and their footprint will be larger than the CDMA network.

Cingular's current network is split between TDMA and GSM technology. However, Cingular will soon be moving to all GSM/GPRS technology, followed by EDGE, as their 3G upgrade path. The new networks will be an overlay, meaning the existing TDMA networks will continue to operate for many years.

Ahh, but part of the reason why Verizon's coverage rules (and Cingular or AT&T were great in some areas with TDMA) is because they have the 800 MHz band.
The big thing is that, 2-3 years down the road, when they've enticed enough folks to get GSM/EDGE/UMTS phones and managed to move most of the large cities to having UMTS in the 800 MHz band, there's the distinct potential for them to reall...

Let me explain something to you in case you haven't figured it out: Sales jobs have quota. You meet them, or you lose your job. Working in sales for Verizon, I can tell you that if you're not hitting quota, then you don't belong in a sales job to begin with. I've worked for Verizon for a while & never missed quota. And let me tell you something, I do business straight up -- nothing shady here.
