Question for Alchemist and/or ecko

Knowing all that you two know about the external screen being crap and other minor problems with the V710. Do you still recommend getting it when it comes out? Or should we wait for the VX8000? I am able to update my phone in August and like everyone else on this forum, I have been eagerly awaiting the V710's release. I'm just wondering if i should just wait alittle longer for the VX8000.

Thanx a lot for all of the information from both of you!

well, it was evident ecko preferred the vx7000 because if i recall correctly, he kept that and tried to or already has sold off his v710. i, on the otherhand, am going to take my vx7000 back and wait on the v710 because it's an amazing phone. yes, it doesn't support external picture caller ID in the sense that you can clearly see a picture in 4K color but it's still an incredible phone nonetheless. some of you are going to **** your pants when you actually have it in front you and you open that flip for the first time and see that huge display. i was not disappointed by any means. i can care less about external picture caller id. that's me though. i wouldn't wait on the vx8000 though unless you're seriously patient because that EV-DO ...

Yeah, External Picture ID isn't a huge deal for me either. Thanx for your opinion

This is my opinion and The Alchemist opinion may differ from that of my own you can take it as you may.

I owned the v710 and it had some major problems that a casual user like myself could not deal with. Motorola hasn't produced a good CDMA pho...

This is the link for a thread I did in the past and even that didn't signify all the problems I had with the phone.

I'd have to agree about LG becoming (if not already) the CDMA ruler. They're extremely consistant and they've pretty much saved VZW's potential holiday sale slump single handedly. LG's are not tremendously buggy at all. My work phone, vx6000 is great. Walk into any VZW store and see what the reps and techs are wearing... LG.

I'm a gadget whore though, so these Moto is very appealing to me. I am also loyal Moto consumer, so it's only natural for me to be supportive of the brand. It's like your home or favorite sports team. They might slump for a few years, but once they get the right people, or in this case- the right handsets, they'll relive their past glory. I can't turn my back.

You're completely right!! I'm a Moto fanatic and that's the reason I had to find a way to get my palms on the phone. I'm a Moto fan and I only used the G once and that was the vx6000. Yet out of the 2 Moto CDMA phones I had and kept the v200 and t720 both were complete pieces of ****, excuse my french. I found myself getting them replaced tons of times. I found myself getting a Samsung replaced once or twice but I never once had to get the LG replaced ever.

You're right, you can't turn your back on the team, that's why I went back to Moto but after...

I'm a gadget whore just like you, so I am just waiting for this Moto. I am also a loyal Moto consumer. I am on my 3rd Moto phone, and I haven't had a problem with any that I have ever owned. I guess I lucked out with my T730. Hopefully, the trend will continue for me with the V710!

I don't want to sway anyone's attention but i'm just going to post my opinion for what it's worth.

I wemt down my entire cell phone buddy list trying to find a v710 and vx7000 before they were officially released and sure enough I did get my hands on both, the v710 first.

Sure while both the vx7000 and v710 have 262k TFT screens the v710 is TFT LCD which made the images look alot sharper.

As for the external screen the vx7000 had that hands down, no contest there.

I only paid $550 for the v710 and after having the vx7000 and v710 right there in my hand for a week I saw myself putting the v710 down to mess with the vx7000.

The vx7000 is one nice phone, sure some people say it's ugly or it's shaped like a box but they said the s...
