I have a feeling that we are going to see this come out in the near, near, near future as the Mother's Day gifts of all M Day gifts. Interestingly, Verizon has not released any info on their M Day promotions and some speculate that this could be it.

Also, played with a v878 today... what crap! I assume that the GSM version cannot be much different than the CDMA version and ergo both suck.

I highly doubt its going to debut as a Mother's day Promotion. Especially since the technology in this phone (like Bluetooth) will be marketed to cater more to men. Yes I am sure that women out there like cutting edge technology too, but its the men that usually are impulsive to the latest technology.

Therefore it seems more feasable that the end of May release would be appropriate, since Fathers day is mid June. Let dad get teased a little (weeks before father's day) by finding out there is a new cool Motorola phone that can handle a wireless headset, etc and mom will run out to get it for him.

Bada Bing! So there we have it. Mystery solved on the release timing. It must be before fathers day. And someone else mentioned May 21st as a p...

This thing didnt get its FCC approval until just last February. Has a phone from Verizon ever come out this soon from a FCC approval date? I would expect a 6 month minimun meaning July at the earliest. I wouldnt be surprised if they saved it until christmas.

You may be right about July/August release date, but there are a couple of things to consider.
First, Motorola sales in the US suck. In the past two years they have been releasing phones that have way too many problems (the whole V60 thing jumps to mind). Right now the only US carrier with an excess of Motorola is Nextel for obvious reasons.
Second, this phone was built FOR Verizon. This is not a retrofit to CDMA, but built from the ground up as a CDMA. With Verizon backing this phone as it was built it shouldn't need to much testing, probably just software issues at this point.I don't know how long it has been since this was done, but it has been a while (two years maybe?)
Third, as far as I can recall only three phones were unv...

technoho... you might want to read about the last quarter numbers from Motorola vs Nokia. Motorola has taken market share away from Nokia and has posted the best numbers in years blasting Wall Street expectations. Mot learned from their V60 issues (although I never had any problems with mine) they are on their way to anther Star-Tac like success story with their new line-up. I have seen the V710 in action and the BT connected with my PPC, IBM laptop and a Mot ear bud. Sorry you Yuppies out there, I have not seen it sync with a OEM control panel (BMW, etc.) but Mot claims no problemo. This is going to be a hot phone when it hits the street and Mot is committed to not having supply issues (but caveat emptor, if it's really hot, then blame VZW ...

Yes, Ir read a Financial Times article about it. Nokia banked on the popularity of candy-bar phones, and people want clamshells.

badsky2k,
I agree with everything you said. I was just pointing out that Mot HAD been behind in US sales. But overseas success and the entry of the v300 has really kicked them up. They are really trying to get turned around. Because of all this I really can't see a December release date. Maybe I am in Rationalization 101 as well since I want the phone so badly. lol
But I have to wait a couple of months beyond you all, I am actually with ALLtel... guess I will just sit it out on the side lines while you all play with your new phones 😢

They will definitely not wait until Christmas to release this phone. Motorola's own documents say that it's expected to be released by the end of the first half of this year. I don't think they'd put that out there if they weren't sure they could meet that deadline (especially given their history of being late.) Also, the date on "Exhibit 6 Test Report" document submitted to the FCC was November, 2003 so it's likely that it has b...
