Is this phone going to be with the Verizon Wireless Carrier? Any idea on cost and when it will be available?? Any comparable phones to this one coming out or already out (for verizon wireless carrier)?

Thanks

You need to really read previous posts.

VZW is to unpredictable to say a date, just say post April, and the price will be approx. $250 with a 2 year agreement, $300 with a 1 year, and $550 to buy/replace.

Would this phone even be worth that kinda money? 250 for a phone when most are 100 and under with a 2 year plan? Usually these phones start at a high price and drop anyways.

Most people posting to this forum would buy this phone at any price! It has almost all of the features we have been asking, hoping for for the last couple of years.

Good luck with your phone search.

I would buy this phone at any price. It has everything I've been waiting for.

Now, this may be a dumb question but...

I currently have nothing Bluetooth. What items would you guys suggest buying to make the most out of the bluetooth feature on the phone?

Thanks

I'd also get a bluetooth adapter for your computer. It's not clear (to me) exactly how locked this phone will be when we can finally get our hands on it - but, you'll want to be able to sync it with your PC/Mac - and maybe transfer photos and ringtones back and forth. Also, if you have a laptop with bluetooth - you may be able to share your phone's internet connection with your laptop.

These may seem like pipe dreams - but many of the bluetooth phones from other providers allow this - and if Verizon doesn't, I'm jumping ship. Enough is enough.

Cool. That sounds good. I'm hoping Verizon allows it.

What about bluetooth in your car? Do you know what advantages that would bring? Thanks for your help.

With some cars that have a built in Bluetooth hands free kit like the Acura TL, there are a couple of advantages. First, you can pair you phone to the kit as soon as you get in the car. Second, you can dial numbers directly from the dash/console on you car. You can actually store phone numbers in your car and then dial them through the Bluetooth connection on your phone. I'm also guessing that the radio will automatically be muted or lowered when the car detects that the Bluetooth hands free kit is in use. Here's a quote ...

Thanks for the info. My brother has the TL and I know is looking forward to it.

I know however that there is a bluetooth car kit that you can buy and get installed. Do you guys know anything about that?

Motorola has the "Bluetooth™ Car Kit - 98500/S9642" for $209.99 on their web site. Compliant with Bluetooth 1.1.

Anybody have this, and if so, what's the quality of the mic and speaker?

I skimmed through the User Guide that was linked in another post, and it seemed like the external display was only one line (and I guess B&W). The picture here shows a bigger display (possibly color?). Anyone have any idea which one it is?

thanks

Just to clarify (in case it wasn't obvious from JMW's post), get a Bluetooth PDA like the Sony Clie UX40/UX50 (which is what I have) or the Palm Tungsten T2 or T3. If you prefer the Windows Mobile / Pocket PC operating system (instead of Palm), you can get almost any of the HP iPAQ PDAs. Most of them have Bluetooth. Then get a Bluetooth headset like one of the Motorola's or a Jabra (www.jabra.com). Some people find certain ones uncomfortable so I would try them out. Lastly, if you have a laptop (without integrated Bluetooth), I would get a Linksys or Belkin Bluetooth USB adapter so that you can connect the V710 via Bluetooth to use it to connect to the internet. There aren't many other types of Bluetooth enabled devices out there that ...

Go buy an 04 Acura TL. 😁 It works great with the Bluetooth on a Hacked Sony-Eric T608. So I'm waiting to see if the V710 will do the same.
Verizon is slooowwww to introduce phones. 😢

or,

You Could buy a 7 Series BMW 😳

It will drop, but the reason it is so high, is that it is VZW's first BLUETOOTH phone. Read an earlier post I made:

Re: Real Price

by sportyross13 Apr 12, 2004, 11:10 AM

That is correct what Sam K has said ,to add, the $350-$450 price is probably with a 1 year agreement, but I only see it s $300-$400 with a 2 year agreement.

This phone will be very expensive, what most people do not understand is the fact that VZW is going to squeeze the most amount of money out of you as they can. If the start at say $300 with a 2 year agreement, then figure 15% of the people who want the phone will buy it, with the eligabiltiy of getting the free headset.

When the sales of it slow, after about a month, then the price ...

To answer you question, most camera phones out there are 640x480 resolution or in other words 0.3MP. The V710 is 1.2MP, 4 times the picture quality of the others. Second this phone comes with Bluetooth, and will probably be the first Verizon phone with integrated Bluetooth. Third, this phone has dual color displays and the external display is a decent size. Fourth, this phone has a TransFlash memory card slot. In my opinion Verizon will charge a premium for all of this.
