wnrussel's point is that there are many seem edits. A seem edit is simply doing a manipulation of some internal software switches that enable or disable certain features.
A seem is a collection of related (or sometimes unrelated) software switches. Certain software which we can install on our computers, allows us to hook up to the phone and manipulate these switches. Some folks have made up seem edit files which will allow you to flip a bunch of these switches all at the same time -- assuming that they all reside in the same seem.
It sounds complex, and until you've done it you might think it's miond boggling -- but it's not really too hard to do.
