Is this the latest software version?? I read alot of threads about updating -- or " flashing " the V710. Should I leave it the way it is, or ask my local dealer to update my phone? Thanks.

You have the older version. I had my phone flashed today at my local verizon store it took 25 minutes. I have not had any problems since the flash ,the camera seems to be better the bluetooth works fine. The new software comes with more wallpapers, and a new opening screen when you power up your phone. You will have to reset some of your setting however. 🙂

I'm with U.S. Cellular. Is the update valid from them as well as Verizon? When I asked my local salespeople about this I was told that this s/w version didn't mean anything and is a "regional thing". Comments?

I don't know for sure but why would Motorola come up with a software update just for Verizon customers that just not make sense .

🙄 Doesn't surprise me.

Nevertheless, my phone came that way on 02/25/2005. 😁

I just called Verizon and they said that they have to flash the new software and they don't have any out of the box with it. But being I don't have a car blue tooth enabled the update won't really matter to me aside from the fasrer powering on and off and mobile web. I think I rather have the abilty to transfer mp3's if I ever want to so I guess i'll just stick with the older version software.

Are these the same folks who told you "that version 8700_01.30. is the latest and they don't know anything about the 01.40"? 😉

That was a different store but still yea I know exactly what you mean. Even if I could find a brand new phone with the new software I would have to ask them to open every box and I am sure they wouldn't want to go through that and still they can continue to tell me that all their new phones have the old software. Oh well. What state are you in? Besides I don't like the fact it disables for transfering mp3's. It has its good points and bad also

Based on what you say you want, I believe you'd be best to NOT update at this time. Wait and see what comes out in another 6 months.

Did you really see a big difference with the mobile web and the powering on and off? Or was it just something that was a little noticable?

Yea the E815 will be out and I will want that LOL! But I guess we can't always have the biggest and best so i'll be happy with what I have. It is a nice phone.

There is a noticeable increase in the speed of loading web pages and in powering on and off.

arghhhhhhhh why the heck would Verizon now decide to cripple the transflash feature??? I really want this update to improve the functionality but don't want to lose that capability of transfering mp3's This is very unfair.
