New to the v710

I just purchased my phone and I have to say I LOVE it. I wasn't all that concerned with the Bluetooth features so that may be why.

I do have a few questions:
- I just tried playing with the camera and have noticed that low res is giving me clearer pictures than high res. Am I crazy??

-I am most concerned with volume on the phone and speaker as well as text messaging and phone book options. Are there any tweeks or software upgrades that I should try??

I am a sales rep that uses my phone 4000 plus minutes per month so any help you can give would be appreciated!!

Also - I am new to all of this so I need the "stupid" version in your responses!!!

THANK YOU

LOL....No, you're not crazy...I had this same concern and thought that something was wrong with my phone. That is until I had it broken down for me in "Camera phones for dummies" terminology. Here ya go...

The pixelation occurs because the v710's screen resolution is lower than the quality of pic taken. That's why lower resolution pictures look better on the phone, but the higher one's look better on the PC.

So, I use lower resolution for pics I want to use as wallpaper on my phone, and otherwise I use high resolution and send it to my online album...looks great on the PC. Hop...

Since you're new to this phone, if you haven't already...go to Howardforums.com and do a search on the Alltel forum for the v710 and go to the Verizon forum, there's a forum dedicated to the v710...I've learned so much about this phone in those two places, as well as v710.org. Happy searching...hope you find these places to be as helpful as I have.

If all your concerned with is volume and speaker and messaging and phone book options I can suggest the 8000 which has all those features plus Vcast and a much better resolution camera. And the 8000 also comes with none of the headaches. No crippled bluetooth or crippled SD card slot. And the 8000 got much better reviews. So in other words it's just a win win situation. Only a suggestion but if your happy with the V710 All I can say is good luck.......

All in all I guess owing a V710 is sorta like being at a job you really dislike but until something else better comes along, your kinda stuck and try to make the best of it. It's unfortunate the V710 turned out to be a clunker. But lets be optimistic and look on the bright side of things. The E815 is just around the corner and maybe, just maybe god will bestow a miracle upon us all......

(lets not hold our breath though)

When you log into Howardforums.com, stroll all the way down to Verizon. After the page opens they'll be two options at the top..one for Verizon Wireless FAQ and one for Temporary V710 Discussion...the latter is what you wanna click. As some have stated, Verizon's version seems to have quite a few problems with it, but Alltel users (...that's me!!!) and USC customers don't have these problems with theirs. But I would suggest that you read and make the decision for yourself versus taking my word or anyone else that posts here. I understand that you can't leave Verizon right now, but if you want to search Alltel's forum you're welcome...it's a little further past the Verizon forum. Once you open the page the search button is at the bottom on...

I have a Motorola V710...no problems to speak of. My SD card works great. I have a CCM aftermarket Bluetooth earpiece that works great. I also went on a trip with my wife who has a Samsung a670 and my son-in-law who has an Audiovox 8900 (was my phone) and I cannot count the times that my phone held reception that was good enough to make calls while their phones were reading searching.

My boss has an LG VX6000 and same thing. I have yet to drop a call at the office and he will drop 3 to 4 calls a day. They have replaced his handset and the same problem occurs. My only complaint with the V710 was price. But since I won it, I quit complaining about that 😁 I went through 5 Audiovox 8900 before I got one that worked good. I will te...
