Bluetooth IS fully functional on USCC!!!

Well, believe it or not, but the Bluetooth is fully functional on the USCC v710. I have successfully transferred audio mp3 files to my v710 via bluetooth. I have transferred photos also. All via the Mobile Phone tools program. It is pretty sweet. I have also initiated phone calls via my computer over bluetooth. Haven't got it to work as a Modem yet, but that is because I just haven't gotten around to it.

But again...Bluetooth IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL with United States Cellular V710s. File transfer DOES work.

How did you transferred the files using MPT?

I'm sorry, maybe it's too early, but I don't really understand your question. I transferred the ringtones and photos, and phone book entries with MPT over BT, just like I did using a data cable. MPT doesn't care what the connection or method is, as long as there is a connection. It works the same way regardless.

Try it without MPT.

Unfortantly, I'm not getting the same results as Yukong. I read his post, got happy and went and bought a USB Bluetooth adapter. I installed it, and it can detect my phone, but unfortantly after selecting "Find Me" in the setup menu, Mobile Phonetools doesn't seem like it can detect the phone. So now i'm sitting here very unhappy that I just wasted money and time on something that didn't work on my US Cellular phone.

OK, here is what you have to do. First, make sure that you have downloaded the update to MPT. Should be version 3. Now do the following. This is what worked for me, and it works great.

The phone shouldn't be installing as a Standard Modem. It should display as a Motorola BlueTooth modem. I want you to remove the device from contrl panel and try installing with the steps outlined below.

1. You need to make your phone discoverable - You do this by going through the phones menu, then selecting Settings, Connection, Bluetooth Link, Setup, you will then see Find Me highlighted on the menu, and make it discoverable for 60 seconds

2. On your PC go to My Bluetooth Places and click View Devices in Range from the My Bluetooth Places win...

The question is, can you transfer the files between two arbitrary Bluetooth devices without MPT?

i.e. does it support Obex?

Has anyone else verified this? That the V710 sold through USCC is not crippled?

Yes it is cripples. I was wrong. You can use BT with Mobile Phone Tools and transfer to your heart's content, but not OBEX. Sorry for the confusion. I have the phone and love it, but I cannot do OBEX. I would like to though. And I hope someone will add US Cellular to the class action suit because they have done the same as Verizon. But then, I believe that Motorola should be added because Motorola's web site specifically states that OBEX is not a supported profile on the V710. Didn't find that until after I purchased the phone.

Why would US Cellular be added to the suit when all they have said is the phone has blue tooth technology. They haven't stated it has full capabilities like Verizon promoted when it came out. So to think US Cellular should be added to the joke of a law suit it just ridiculous, if anything being a US Cellular customer you should know by now they take forever and a day doing everything that had to do with any modern day technology and make sure to have every angle covered.

Well, except that the US Cellular rep told me that the phone had not been crippled like the Verizon phone. I already knew of the Verizon flap and specifically asked if the USCC version was crippled and was told NO, that all aspects of BT worked with no limitations. Hey, I never said I was for the suit, I just said that if they were going to sue Verizon, then they needed to sue everyone because it is that way with all providers because apparently that is the way Motorola made the phone. Just an obversation.
