What year /model BMW are you driving? We got an 2005 325i in August that is suppose to have BT installed. I can't even get it to pair with the v710.

I'm taking it in to the shop tommorow... there are some good discussions on Bimmerboard.com. One of the threads tells me that BMW didn't turn on BT at the factory in some of the early 2005 production... I'm hoping that is my problem. Bimmerboard says v710 is known problem. Most of this is tied to the lack of an OBEX profile in the v710. I spoke with a BMW tech resource at US corporate... confirmed known problem and indicated that Verizon is testing software to fix issue. He says about a 6 week process... expects end of December release (if it passes). I take all of this with a grain o...

I have used the feature on my 2004. I experience the same issue. "Bluetooth signal weak, use handset?" You are not alone.

In addition, I've found that the phone sometimes gets into a connect/disconnect cycle. Turning the phone of and back on fixes it for a couple of days. When it works, it's great though.

Your phone should be power cycled daily any way to avoid lockups in the phone and network.

On my '05 M3, v710 now works with factory bluetooth option, requires 01.40.OR firmware on the phone or it's derivates (see www.v710.org).

It works great now. The only confirmed store doing the flash is here:

Attn: Cliff
Verizon Wireless
2403 S Stemmons Fwy# I-10
Lewisville, TX 75067
Call ahead - the phone # is 972-459-7111

I flashed my own phone following the steps in HoFo and here:

Didn't have time to send the phone to Texas so I took a chance and it was easy.

Verizon was no help at all.

I have an '02 BMW and a verizon v710, here is my experience. The problem lies in the verizon software version for the v710. They have intentionally disabled many of the bluetooth features in order to generate additional revenues by forcing you to use their networks for uploading/downloading stuff. There are 9 total profiles for bluetooth and the verizon v710 only has 3 of these installed, thereby limited use. I first had a v600 from AT&T when I installed my car kit and it worked FLAWLESSLY. Transferred phone book to car, rings when calls come in, never had a weak BT signal, etc. The problem is that AT&T service sucks in my area. Then verizon comes out with the v710 so I switch over thinking that since its still a motorola phone it wil...

Almost right. There's more than 9. There's maybe 9 total profiles that are useful for a phone like the v710, however.

And, please, if you aren't "wedded" to Verizon, please just take the phone back if Bluetooth is important to you. Do not believe the salesfolk when they say...

Unfortunately where I am located verizon is really the only game in town when it comes to acceptable coverage. I tried the V600 from ATT and it worked perfectly with the car and BT, but it was useless since the coverage was terrible.

Saw your post, do you have technical background in cell phones? My firm is investigating this issue and we are interested in speaking to individuals that have technical knowledge regarding the phone.

Thanks
