Why is it if you set a ringer ID thats an mp3 or not previously on the phone, that it rings even when the phone is set to vibrate?

That setting is for general incoming calls. Specific ringer IDs over-ride the general ringer setting as they would whatever ring tone you have set for the general incoming calls.

If you are in a meeting, class, etc and need the phone to ONLY vibrate - simply open the flip and press the down volume (ring style) to zero (which will say "vibrate"). All incoming will vibrate. then, later when you want the phone to ring, simply reverse the process and ring tones will ring through.

Sorry you are having difficulty. I just re-verified it on mine. I set a specific mp3 ringer for my home phone. Then I called my cell from my home phone to verify the ringer ID. Then I opened the flip and pressed the down volume button on the left side of the phone down to "vibrate". I then called my cell again from my home and the cell vibrated.

I read another post, about a month ago, that claimed what you do. I tested my approach then too and my phone vibrated. Maybe it is just my phone. Even though I purchased my phone in September, the production date on my box is July. Every other production date posted here or on HoFo, that I saw posted, was August. Maybe there is a difference in the phones with different production dates ...

menu > settings > ring styles
style: vibrate > vibrate detail > ringer ID's set to OFF

hope this fixes the problem.

yeah but that wont fix his problem. he wants ringer ID's to be ON, but vibrate when he sets his phone to vibrate...this way he doesnt have to toggle ringer ID ON / ringer ID OFF.

I verified mine to work just like redrockhiker did.

the only possible thing I can think of is are your ringer files .mp3s or .mid files? when viewing them through the phone, they will most likely appear as mp3s regardless, BUT, what type of file are they when you brought them from your computer to your transflash??

the ringer ID will still be ON in loud mode even though ringer ID is set to OFF in vibrate mode. each ringer style has its own ID: on/off toggle. check it out.
