GPS.. The ONLY thing it's used for is if you call 911 and are in an accident or something, they can locate you if you don't know where you are from the phone...

We have people call in saying they lost the phone, and asking since the phone has GPS, can we call the police and send them to find the phone and recover it.. lol 🤣

Actually that isn't too far off (being able to locate a phone with GPS).

It is true that it is currently only being used for 911 calls (or so they say - tin foil hat alert!).

One of the reasons that all phones have this now is after 9/11 it became mandated that phones have GPS capabilities.

They have been looking into opening up GPS to a variety of uses. For instance, you could look up restaurants in the area and it would show the Italian places that are closest to your actual location. You could also get directions from where you are to where you want to be.

Of course this raises all sorts of privacy issues and many people are afraid of where this could lead (you call in sick, but your boss can look up the location of your ph...
