Just went to a verizon store this morning and they new about the problem with the tilted camera so i asked them if i could exchange my phone for a brand new one with the fixed camera, they had none with the fixed camera in stock. and the customer service rep told me "FYI, you can only exchange your v710 with a refurbished v710 that has a fixed camera because i had already passed up my 30-day warranty" i explained to the cutomer rep that it was a manufacturers defect so doesn't that mean i'm entitled to get a new phone, he kept telling no you can only get a refurbished. so i just kept my phone because i did not want a FRU. That's ridiculous cuz i paid $400 for a phone that was supposed to be flawless and all they can say is sorry we messed up...

You are giving a FRU a bad name. FRU's are not always bad have the techs check the call timer if you want to 😢 they might be able to give you a new FRU that has not been used. You see when the stores get a fru they get 3% that are new. I know i got a 7000 fru because i broke my screen and i got a FRU and it had 0 call timer on it so b4 u B!tch make sure to see if its used.!

If you do not like Factory Refurbished then do not plan on taking items back to or exchanging with:

Toys R US
Walmart
Target
Circuit City
Best Buy
Microsoft
Apple
Sony
Radio Shack

They have all been sued and the courts have never ruled against the companies.
And here is the real kicker. They do not have to tell you you are getting a FRU.
And they can, and have even sold item(s) as new.

I have to disagree with you with Circuit City and Best Buy... I have worked at both and when stuff comes back from repair we use sold it as "open box" merchandise at a much lower price then a brand new one... 😳

I have to apologize. My post was not worded as correctly as it should have been.

True that Circuit City and Best Buy sells returned merchandise as "open box" But they do also "replace" returned merchandise with open box items. This has been from my own experience and from my cousin who has worked for the corporate office of Circuit City.

My own experience last Christmas was I bought a HiDef TV. It didn't work. I went to return it when a new one was brought out it was obviously a "open box". I was told that as of February 2003 (confirmed by my cousin) if there is an "open box" item in stock the customer is to get that one.

Now that is the official corporate policy. That does not mean that a store manager or even a sales person has...
