I was just wondering if there are two models of the Motorola HF800 Bluetooth speaker becuase while searching the web i came across two models one with a chrome multifunction button and one with a translucent blue multifunction button. Here are the links:

This is the one with the chrome button:

The Radio Shack link did not work, so I used "bluetooth" as a keyword and found the HF800 there, and that one, to be honest with you, looks the same as the expansys picture, just the blue is not there surrounding the chrome multi-function button. I think both are artist representations rather than photos.

I have the HF800 and it works like a champ. I know you can finder it cheaper online than the two you listed. Even when I bought mine a...

what is the advantage of the BT speaker over the built-in speakerphone feature?

I have been told that all of the BT headsets are analog. If this is true, I would imagine this would apply to the BT speaker as well. I would also imagine that the the digital to analog to digital conversions would somehow affect sound quality too.

Anyone willing to educate me?
Thanks.

I use it in my car attached to my visor. The volume is great for driving. The disadvantages are you have no idea who is calling, voice mail is a pain cause even if you have your password stored, you must revert back to the phone for your password, one of the faults with this phone. Hope this helps.

yes.... but you still have to "name dial" "voice mail" for it to work... just "voicemail" doesn't do the extended stuff... I guess the voice dial direct VM number is programmed somewhere else. Still usable, I just actually set mine up today.

I have done that, however if you do not exit and call voice mail it will continue to ask for your password. I tried it all and it does not work.

Thanks for the original reply. I've used the pause/pin thing even back with my old a310 - works great.

Placing the BT speaker on your visor sounds like a matter of location. I am still wondering what is better about this over the speaker that is already in the phone. I have not tried it but I would imagine I could easily tuck the phone over the visor and get the same result (assumes I tuck the screen/earpiece end and leave the mic/speaker end sticking out). right now, I am using a generic phone holder that plugs into lighter socket (no electric) with a 10" flexible arm and holder. Seems OK. I must pull the phone out long enough to hit the voice dial button but I think I may be able to re-program a soft key to get around that.
