OK here's how it is...I want to buy either this, or the 8000. I don't really want to wait for just a speakerphone, becuase I won't use EV-DO. Could somebody please answer these questions so I know whether to hold out for the 8000? Thanks...

1.) Does the phone support different alerts/tones for different announcements? (i.e. Call/Text Message/Restricted Call)
1a.) Can I download different alerts/tones using Get-It-Now?
2.) Is there a way to turn off the flashing lights which appear upon receiving a call?

that speakerphone thing was originally a bug, and they took care of it so i doubt it. custom ringtones? it comes with 'get it now' and you can get ringtones there.

"when it says u can't use "custom ringtones"

it might mean that you cant make up your own ringtone. some nokia and sony ericsson phones have that feature.

you could just use electrical tape to get rid of the flashing lights, but then youd have to carefully disessemble it or if ur lucky, you will get a defective one. but only defective in its lighting, nothing else. I've heard a couple people have it. this phone is worth it, it has style and superb quality. no "large drawbacks/disadvantages" to this phone.

correct me if im wrong
