So him getting dummy phones means that the phone should be arriving soon? I don't get that. Plus my question wasn't answered.

the company wouldn't send dummy phones for display three months in advance. Now as to how this all works in cell stores I'm not sure, but back when I was managing a store in a national video chain (which shall remain nameless) we never got promotional materials until a week or two before the release. There was a RARE poster that slipped by and ended up in a store for two or three months before release, but generally speaking we'd only have PROMOTIONS up for about two weeks. A dummy phone is only placed on the floor when that phone is actually available. So it stands to reason that if the dummies are in, then the actual model stock will follow fairly quickly.

Now when you're talking availablility you're talking T-Mobile or Cingular? Or both?

depends on what the guy sells....if he's a cingular dealer, then cingular, if T-mobile, then that's the case. But I'd bet on Cingular gettin it out first.

So we're probably looking at Sept for Cingular and Oct or Nov for T-mobile in all actuality right?

actually, the dummy phones are due to arrive @ my store next week, so tmobile will might be getting them in september as well.

this is all assuming that the original guy was even smirking at the fact that the a630 was even in with his dummy phones. I take it that he was happy because he knew and we didn't. I'm scheduled to start work with a Cingular agent around Oct. 1 so I suppose I'll find out then. If it hasn't already been released by then.

i work at a cingular agent and we just got confirmation today about a couple phones being avaiable. as far as the A630, i should have it in stock in two or three weeks. the motorola rep had a live version of the A630, and it is amazing!!! it is heavier than some other new phones (especially the new V3 RAZR), but i did not find too heavy. my personal opinion, i love it! my only complaint was it only takes stills instead of video. now i only got to play with the phone for like 5 minutes, but i enjoyed all 5 minutes!!! HOLLA!! 😁

Is the qwerty keyboard really as small as it looks. Is it too small to be used for long text messages?

I agree that the keyboard looks small, but compared to the whole predictive text entry and such available now, with the exception of a few phones..., any keyboard is better than just the number pad.

i love this phone it looks so unique. the keyboard is about the same size as a one found on two way pagers. If u consider the keypad on those small then maybe it will be small for u.

i agree. when i used the phone, the keyboard felt very comfortable. i was able to use the keyboard with ease. i have fat fingers and i did not have any issues with the buttons too close or anything like that.

How much is this phone going for?

Not sure how much this phone is gonna hit you for - but I have discovered that amazon.com is offering a $175 rebate against whatever the price of the phone. This rebate expires on 10/7/04, which leads me to believe the a630 will hit the airwaves VERY soon.

Where can i find that? Amazon.com and then where?

That sucks because its only for new service activation!! I'm already with TMobile i just want to upgrade my phone so i'll probably be paying full price for it. Do you think that the Sidekick II is a better option?
