Motorola V400

If I miss a call and it rolls over to VM I get the icon for text message at the top of my screen instead of the icon for VM. When I go to the Message Center icon it shows that I have one message in my Inbox and no voicemails. When I open the text message in my InBox it tells me that I have received a VM. There will be a new VM but it never shows up as being there in the Message Center

Have I changed some setting that causes me to get a text message for the VM instead of notifying me that I have a VM? Is it my service (Cingular) or just the phone.
