has anyone on here ever heard that you can record small video with a v400? if you can, please let me know...

Nope, can't do it. You can record audio and you can take pictures, but no video. If you upgrade the flexware on your V400 to V600 flexware then you can have it play real MPEG4 video clips, but you still can't record video.
Ah well. It's not likely, but I suppose we can still hope that some future firmware/flexware adds that ability.
