I have used V400 as a wireless modem from day 1, dialing up a regular ISP dial-up number.

I originally used the cable and modem driver for V60, nowadays a dedicated cable and driver that comes with the mobile phone tools.

I don't think you need any kind of data package to do this. The speed is obviously quite slow, but for occasional e-mail checking it is OK.

Japi, is your service provider AT&T? I found this on the net:

In maccellphone@yahoogroups.com, Dave C wrote: Death Star Wireless, er, AT&T WS does not support CSD (Circuit Switched Data) connections. They only support their metered GPRS service for data connectivity.

Are you using a USB connection or Bluetooth?

Thanks.

I called AT&T Wirless customer care, and they suggested I use the following software,

along with a tethered connection to the computer, preferabley through USB. To make sure you are not using mMode, and actually dialing your ISP, change the mMode server IP settings to something bogus, e.g. 0.0.0.0 or 1.1.1.1

Hope that works. I have yet to try it.
