"Decent" accessories?

Hi -

Just got a V400.. a few questions about accessories:

1) Are the data cables from ebay generally decent? I'd certainly rather spend $2 than $60...

2) Where can I find a good case? The ones I've seen in stores don't let the phone close all the way.. I'd like a wraparound case to protect it but one that is actually made for this phone (or exactly-shaped models)

3) I'm looking for the best solution to use this thing hands-free in the car.. from what I understand, I must have a mic plugged in in order to have the phone auto-answer or enable auto-speakerphone on open. But how can I mount the thing in the car?

Last.. software... I saw a link or two but neither seems to be working now - any leads? Also, will the software allow m...

Ok... lets start with one question at a time...

1) I purchased my cable on Ebay and haven't had any problems with it. Some people will swear that it's not worth it and they don't work. But, just as many people will say they work 100%! My best advise, do you homework before buying one. Make sure it says it's compatible with the v400 model and try to confirm that the best you can.

2) This is a had question to answer because many people have their own preferences. I personally like the pouch that clips onto my belt and hold my phone like a holster would hold a gun. It holds it nice and tight so it won't fall out and it protects it very well. I purchased my case at a Cingular store for about $20.

3) There are a couple different t...

Yes, it definitely helps.

The handsfree car thing looks quite nice. I assume that you find it works well?

I read about it on Motorola's site but it really doesn't say how it works; if I understand it correctly, the phone can be set to answer/go to speaker automatically, but that seems like it just pertains to the phone - how does it work with the base?

Also, can outgoing calls be made with voice activation through the base?

Mostly it's a safety issue for us, so I hope this is the answer.

Last, the site says it has various mounting configurations... where besides the cupholder or on a dash can it be mounted?

Thanks again - also, great site. Thanks for that too.

Andrew,
To be honest with you, it works GREAT for what I use it for. I personally don't use it for all the automatic answering features. I mainly use it for the speakerphone feature. The base of it (the part that fits in the cup holder) is the actual speaker and it A LOT louder than the speakerphone built into the phone.
Also, with the retractable microphone I usually just clip it onto my seatbelt while I'm driving so it doesn't pickup all the "extra" noise.
As for the "various mounting configurations," I've yet to find any other options. I've been looking on Ebay because I'd like to buy some sort of a holder to mount to my vent where I can just slide the phone in and out (so far no luck).

Another similar holster worth checking is CCM Classic II, available from CompUSA (I think). Similar to the "Cingular holster" but a tad sturdier in construction and has a velcro strap to secure the phone in the holster.
