i downloaded and installed phone tools as directed by fetnu but my phone is not in the list of those to be installed, further i tried to download the upgrade and it doest work, the link that is.

You should be able to use the generic Motorola USB Modem driver in Windows, assuming you are connecting with a USB data cable. That's how mine is working.

I had the same problem, so I ended up choosing one of the other models and then when I did the Live Update it automatically recognized my phone. As for everything else, I'll tell you the same thing I told Synister....


The first thing you need to do is disconnect your USB cable from the computer, disconnect it from the phone and finally completely uninstall Mobile Phone Tools. When you're done with this, reboot your computer.

Next, make sure the mmpt_1.23c_EN.zip file is UNZIPPED. Many people try running the setup.exe straight from the zipped file (this won't work).

Open the "guide" folder. Inside this folder you will find guide.pdf. Print this file and reinstall Motorola Phone Tools EXACTLY as it's stated in the directions. ...
